Adwords - cheating quality score

So im sure someone cleverer than me will put me right on this but here's a thought from my previous conversation with the adwords team when i was complaining about an unnatural quality score level in a certain adgroup on my account. She said

"quality score is affected by conversion rate, if we see lots of people are converting - or reaching your goals, then you will get a better quality score"

which leads me to think...

rather than just having conversions built into the thank you pages on my webform submits, why dont i just spam my whole site with them, so even if you sniff next to my site I can report it as a conversion in adwords, making me look amazing and getting my conversion rates artificially boosted, therefore increasing my quality score...

Anyone tried it, or knows it does/doesnt work please comment :) Steve this is more aimed at you, as your the PPC guru on here.

This is one of the biggest rumours on the topic of quality score.

It is not true, has proven by several people (Google for it) not to be true and could never be true because of the same reason you mentioned above (it would be way too easy to game).

If you really got this information from an adwords rep then it's a pity Google doesn't train their reps properly, to the extent that they need to rely on internet rumours. With that said, I'm not overly surprised as having been an adwords advertiser for nearly 5 years I've heard all sorts of wild stuff from their reps.

we recently increased our spend, and within a week or so, we had a few questions like this so we asked google via the chat facility in adwords... we got a call from one of their account managers, who said that this was the case, and she said " you dont have mobile conversions set up, if you add this click to call tracking facility to the query that raises the phone number, we can report those conversions in adwords, that will in turn increase your quality score.

I'm sceptical. I suspect it's just what they think they need to tell you in order to get you to sign up for an extra feature and earn themselves some commission.

The conduct of adwords reps was exposed recently (thanks to a leaked recording). You should read this:
