Private patients defrauding the NHS

The analogy about people who take private healthcare was offensive. Don't be obtuse, and get a grip dear chap.

If and when (and I hope it never happens) you take one of your loved ones to the doctors and he/she says- "it's serious and you will wait a month for a consultation .

Don't happen if you go to a GP with something serious,They will call an ambulance there and then.

Serious is instantaneous under the NHS.

Urinating upstream from people who drink was the phrase you used.

Trust me, at that point you'll be rushing to unzip your flies.

What is it about the fact that some people are not prepared to compromise what they see as their "standards" that riles you. I would have thought you would have been glad of less competition for what is obviously important to you.

I suppose I can admire the principles of someone who can easily afford £150 who chooses to wait 6 weeks, trouble is, inevitably its not you that is in need....its your kids etc

I don't think its a matter of principle,I am very fortunate that I can pay privately ,but I am very mindfull of the injustice for people who can not afford to pay and the anxiety they may have to endure.

Its wrong ,its bad,its immoral,its unjust but on a personal level I will pay in order that I can continue to campaign for a better society.

I also like me fish and chips on a friday night.

Just not true. I can easily afford private health but would not dream of it. To me anybody who pays their way to the front of a queue for medical treatment is no better than the man who urinates in the river just upstream from where people go to drink.

Does this river business still happen much in North Wales?
Perhaps it's part of the 'traditional' medicine rather than offensive? Adding antibodies and a mild, nearly sterile liquid to the river.
Sort of homoeopathic altruism even...
Bet people would pay good money for that.

How long did it take you to think up that post that effectively tries to deflect from what you said?

I think sticking to standards is good, but waiting your turn when a loved one could potentially be worse off for waiting is just plain stupidity if the faster option is available to you.

I would genuinely applaude you for sticking to principles normally but in this case it's just daft.

p.s. don't try and turn it back on me, you made the bigotted and thoughtless analogy. You can try to throw it all back at me as much as you like but we all know you're just trying to deflect attention away from your daft remark. Then again that's your normal modus operandi.

I tend to only join discussions that I have a strong opinion about and private health happens to be one. I think it's wrong and immoral for anybody to be able to jump the queue for anything that are a persons basic rights in a civilised society.

You are the one that tried to make it emotional by suggesting that my principals would crumble if it affected me personally. It has happened in two instances; first to myself and then to my wife. In both instances we could have bought our way to the front of the queue and in both instances it was turned down because it would have gone against our principles.

I have made my opinions clear but in your mind that makes me bigoted. Why? Am I not entitled to an opinion about a practise that I see as being no better than legalised corruption. What am I trying to deflect?

No I take advantage of the fortunate position I am in ,to alleviate anxiety or pain when I deem it needed.

The fact is that the NHS should be the superm institution it once was available to all.

But sucessive governments have used the resources provided by all the population to waste it on toys for the boys and other frivolous bits of drum banging nonsense.

such as this at 230 million a pop obselete piece of toot .

Ask the ordinary guy whether he would prefer the money spent on a new hospital or one of these pieces junk that have no place in the modern world.
