What's wrong with wanting to be rich? It seems to be a crime in this country now.

I didn't start a business to earn the same money as I could earn working in a job.

Otherwise I would have stayed in a job. So what's the problem? There's no wonder that people with "get up and go" feel like they can't speak up on this forum as many people seem to just make excuses for being mediocre and get a buzz out of putting down the ones who actually do make a difference to their financial lives.

I'm not against people who want to run a lifestyle business because that's their choice and I respect that. Really I do, but the same people should also respect the guys and gals on here who actually want to make real money and shouldn't pigeon hole them with disdain.

There's something perverse about a business forum where people put down the rich.

Rant over.

I drive v70 diesel estate. I use it for business deliveries and yes, the cost of fuel is getting exhorbitant.
It's a shame that this thread was hijacked by people with their own axes to grind about various other matters.

Not so much about 'hijacking' The problem is we've all been here before. As is the normal British tradition we tut and moan, then join the rest of the sheeple and go with the flow.
Besides, what happened to the fuel protests? Nothing at all.

i think the only way we will ever make a difference to this, is if everyone in the uk for one week said....right no cars, trucks etc block the roads and leave them there until its lowered.

but ooooo no we cant do that.

Oh dear - didn't detect any cynicism in my "idle rich" post then?

I agree with your rant

Just order my Discovery. Got the biggest gas guzzling engine I could. Dissapointed they don't do a V10 quad turbo petrol though!
Good luck CR - did you not read my post earlier about oil running out??? LOL :D so in about 40 years your Discovery (assuming it is not on the scrap heap anyway) won't be worth a squat of .....

Excuse me whilst I go out and tend to our humble 1600 injection and curse the increasing price on the petrol pumps - which is always funny as the last day or so Asda and others have done us all a great favour by dropping a few pennies a litre - almost as if they think they have done us such a big favour

I'd hazard a guess that CR, like myself would be very happy to be still fit, healthy and even alive in 40 years :)

In all fairness if worked hard for my gas guzzler. Humanity is screwed anyway. Water shortages and over population will get us before global warming. The human race is doomed regardless of gas guzzlers so enjoy it while you can and crack on guzzling gas!

Internetspaceships - hehe.....kind of. I'm only 28 so I really hope I'm still around in 40 years but I get your jist:)

Fair point CR - you are of course right - humanity is screwed ;)

Internetspaceships - I absolutely agree - to be alive in 40 years would be reasonably surprising but very welcome :D

Have you always been an optimist.

Once China starts mass producing Nukes and they are available in Tesco with bonus points.

I suspect every bugger who has a grievance against the west will be taking there 3 for 2 offers.;)

Hence if we continue to elect rude ignorant people to positions of power then I suspect its goodnight Irene.:)

I shouldnt really be on this thread. But isnt there some old saying about buying a Bentley and worrying about the price of petrol ?

Seems to me :))) there are a lot of very poor people on UKBF...all this mention of deals at Tesco's. I hope its not a trend... I wonder if Sift can be persuaded to open a page for very rich people so we dont have to read about Tescos and the price of bread. Maybe call it the Champagne forum ?

We would have to send in the log book of our Lamborghini to be allowed in

Would anyone want to drive round in an agricultural vehicle that guzzles 3 times the fuel of the average car and has a major inherent design fault for passenger transport.

To tow their Jet Skis to the coast. Now there's a double waste of fuel! Is Jet Ski a fuel efficient way to travel?

hence why more people have been killed in road accidents than were killed in WW2.

Earl

Billions more people have died in their sleep than in every war throughout history and certainly more than in road accidents. Another useless statistic that proves sod all!

The wifes clio diesel can tow any jetski ever made and can do 70mpg.:p

Earl

So what's the mpg of a Jet ski?

And how do foreign Jet Ski's and parts contribute to the UK economy?

And what you doing with a froggy car, shouldn't you be driving a Austin Allegro - not only built in the UK, you would have "saved" about twenty other cars being built to satisfy your need for a newer model, and who knows if you had continued to buy British we may still have a car industry. Or is it just do as I say?

You dont really expect a civilised answer to that do you from SirHypocrite?

No, I'm expecting a article from 1972 showing the Jet Ski as the new economic form of transport and another link from 1977 showing Austin were actually made in China - which ironically at the turn of the century I believe they did buy the tooling for the Maestro (Top Gear fact that!!!).

Well seeing as Earl has decided to not respond I've done a bit of research. It appears that a nice four litre V8 Land Rover is very economical compared to the 3 to 6 miles per gallon the Jet Skis Earl sells can manage.

Also they are the most dangerous form of water transport "Research from the University of Florida shows that jet ski accidents cause far greater injury than other boating mishaps."

So apparently the Jet Ski is the water based equivalent of a 4x4 only much more dangerous and damaging to the environment.

Earl - you old hypocrite!

Try driving a v8 Land Rover on the sea and see how many MPG you get.:|:)

They went into administration 2011 ,I believe the company was bought by an Indian.

To purchase British goods please see beijing.;)

Earl

Not disagreeing with you. Bristol have a showroom in Kensington High street and have these fab old models (cars:)) in the window..they come from an era when driving must have been a pleasure. Are they still being made ? I can imagine being driven to Monte Carlo in one of these. Fab.
