I use the scx 4600 at home for printing/scanning and it does the job but it only scans to jpg, bmp or tif.

Is there anyway of getting it so it will scan to pdf? Ive had a look for drivers and things but couldnt see anything.

Cheers for any help.

It would be if i was doing the odd one, but im mostly working from home at the minute and scanning atleast a few times a week so its one of those things if i cn sort out now will save me time in the future. If i cant then so be it ill have to carry on as i am but i would prefer to just scan straight to pdf.

If the bundled software does not allow it, one workaround would be to use a "scan to copy" program then "print to pdf" to create the document instead of output to printer.

One problem with this woudl be automating the output - cutePDF (which is excellent) always prompts for a filename which might not be suitable for a batch of jobs where you just want them automatically named with incrementing filenames in a specific folder.

SO, to acheive what you want - download:

iCopy http://icopy.sourceforge.net/

and

Pdf Printer http://www.pdfforge.org/

Install PDF printer first - your PC will then have a new "printer" installed. You can set it to automatically save the file (under "Auto-Save Mode" in the settings) to a certain location and auto generating the file name to your spec.

Now install iCopy and set the printer to the newly installed PDF creator "printer".

Now when you use iCopy, it will scan and auto output as a PDF :)
