033 numbers are available for any business or organisation and cost exactly the same to dial as 01 and 02 numbers from a landline or mobile phone. Additionally, 033 numbers are included in the inclusive minutes packages offered by landline and mobile providers, which means that dialling them is often free of charge.

If your target market is consumers and you want to encourage calls I would put up a geographic number, eg 020, 01803 etc. This is because many consumers will use mobiles and many have package deals on landlines giving free geographic calls. As some highlight, calls from mobiles to 0800 is generally not free, so maybe this is not the best option.

0330 will confuse many customers and deter some callers .. IMO this is a non starter.

    You should get both

0800 for customers calling from a landline
0330 for customers calling from a mobile

Give Planet Numbers a call for a deal on both

Planet numbers charge a connection fee of £49.95 and a monthly fee of £10.00 for their basic bronze 0800 numbers and there doesn't seem to be a free monthly allowance included in that price. The incoming call price is 4.95p per minute.

This doesn't seem such a great deal.

I am paying £5/month, NO connection charge and I get 1000 FREE incoming munutes and when they run out I pay 2P per minute. And the service I get is amazing!

Their site says 0330 numbers for £49 set up and £15 a month, but you get 1000 included minutes, and further minutes for 1.5p, and go down to 0.666p/min for larger users...

Lol what do you mean THEIR site? It's YOUR site!

I didn't look at the 0330 number, I was looking at the 0800. There may have been a free allowance on that but I didn't see one.

You could track it for less than £10 per month and see which number gets called the most.

The thing is, 0330 is not necessary, most people with mobiles (even the PAYG nowadays) get free landline minutes! Just publish the landline along with the 0800.

Personally I had never heard of 0330 numbers until I saw this thread, I would probably never call one.
