Hi all!

We are a company based in Central Europe and we recently started an online classified site. Everything was free of charge but now we're starting to charge for some of our advertising packages.

The things is that we're completely inexperienced in payment gateways... So that is why I'm asking you for advice: Which payment gateway is best in your opinion? Of course, we're loooking for one that comes with the least fees as possible but is secure at the same time. We also want to implement it on our website because we do not want our customers to be redirected to their websites, e.g.PayPal. We want them to stay at our site throughout the whole payment procedure.

I was looking at the following payment gateways till now: PayPal, Eway, WorldPay, SagePay, Google Checkout, Authorize.net, AlertPay, CC Avenue, PayFast.

Any advice from people with experience would be A LOT of help.

Thanks so much,
kind regards,
Sasha

Sagepay hands down.

We have used Sagepay since we started in 2007 and have never experienced an problems with it. It is without a doubt the most cost effective option out there.

The customer service is also excellent in my experience.

Hi there -

With regards to not re-directing the customer to the payment provider's server - you may want to consider this carefully as you may incur additional charges to ensure that you are PCI compliant.

We have an article on our site on getting PCI compliant that you will find useful.

Payment pages hosted by payment providers, as opposed to on your own server, can be co-branded with your logo at the very least so that the customer still sees your brand's presence as they make their payment; in fact, making the payment on a PSP's site may increase customer confidence in the security of their payment.

Feel free to come back if you have any questions.

Best of luck,
Rochelle

Having worked for WorldPay and run my own on-line business for the last 7 years I can say that Sagepay (aka Protx) are and would be my preferred choice. WorldPay are currently owned by RBS alebit the business is up for sale again. We've had less downtime with Sagepay than we previously experienced with Worldpay and with the current sale of RBS Streamline who knows who will own them moving forward and how the business will be managed.
