Hello to all!

just want to know if there are lots shop owners in UK who is running ZenCart.

Please let me know your thoughts what you are missing in ZenCart and what you'd enhance it with.

I would not say Zen is all that bad, but its just not got the same out of the box functionality or compatibility with 3rd party developers as Magento.

Also there are a lot of inexpensive responsive themes with Magento, not sure about Zen, equally with innovations such as social loyalty, there is much more work going on in the Magento world.

So to answer your question, eCommerce merchants have been trending away from Zen for the past 3 years in the UK and will continue to do so.

Yes many use zencart, you might also take a look at opencart http://www.opencart.com/ which is also very nice.

As for Magento, well I've built a couple of sites using it and can honestly say that it is the biggest pain in the arse to develop for I have ever experienced and to run at any decent speed needs a VPS or dedicated server or at minimum specialist Magento shared hosting.

Saying that it may have improved a lot in the 3 years since I last touched it, but I doubt it.

We used it a couple of years ago and it seemed rather dated in both code and layout. Again it might have changed but we no longer run a store so I don't know.

A colleague recently launched a site in Prestacart though and seems quite happy with that and his shop does look very professional.
