I'm thinking of starting a new (to me) venture hiring classic cars on a self drive basis.

I know there are a fair few operations going but I think there is room for one more, particularly as most I've viewed have daily mileage limits of 100 - 150 miles before surcharges kick in, so anybody wanting to hire a car would do so local to the area they want to visit.

I have the premises and cars aren't a great problem. I can handle maintenance ok.

The two issues I haven't been able to find answers to as yet are.

Insurance - It must be available as others will have it, but as yet I haven't found out where from.

Marketing - I'm out and about a lot in the classic car movement so face to face, leaflets and cards isn't option. Web marketing will be needed but my knowledge is limited. Would it be better to target a specific make of car for hire, or classic car hire in general? I have no idea what sort of budget I would need for this either.

If anybody can help with my problem areas, I'd appreciate it.

For the marketing side I know a awesome specialist Car photographer:

http://www.distinct-photos.co.uk/ (if you do contact say you know me - he'll know who your speaking to)

If you want I can help with video at the same time!

one thing it may work out being like a agency ? I know a few people who own Movie cars (ghostbusters, knight rider ect....) and basicly they own their own car but the main company effectivly sub-contracts them out?

Just a different look at it.
