Hi guys I've just had my logo concepts back from my new designer and I've got to say that I'm very impressed.

My favorite one is the first one.

it screamed at me when i saw it for the first time.
Really good logo in my opinion.

What do you guys think.
Ps. I'm getting a flight in the morning back to the UK from china so may have a bit of radio silence from me till Saturday.
Thanks
Michael.

Thanks guys :) I've got to say that this is 100 times better than the last designer. and only 2.5 times more in cost.

Well worth it.

And what i like about this designer is he has done the home work research to really create some thing that's relevant for the use of the logo.

Well only Logo Number 1 is good ,, the others do not do the job .. So i think he had a touch of luck on his side as well ;) Also you had virtually told him what you need with the Large use of the Name , just a matter of playing with differing typefaces and adding the logo X bit..

But its definately got your image sorted so , well done to the Company on that one..

Im going to go with concept #1.

It really stands out above the others, and I think its got the best potential to become iconic in the future.

Just need to refine it and create some last concepts around logo #1 just to make sure its right and i will post the details of them here next week.

Thats a lot of money for a logo. I didnt pay that much.

I actually think its good value i was contemplating using another designer
http://www.davidairey.com/ who has done some more reconisable global brands and he charges £3000 - £15000 for a logo.

Jon has created a unique, cool, custom logo (font and mark) with meaning towards the brand and market which has the potential to become iconic.

For £750 its been well worth it.

And to be honest if NIKE spent £1,000,000 for there logo it would have still been cheap for how much the identity has made them over the years. So you cant put a price on a well done company identity.

Especially in a consumer focused business.

All very polished. The first one defo or indeed the last one, but I think the male fraternity may be a bit biased towards that one. Well done.

Thanks Fbc

Yeah every girl I've shown likes the first one better than any other one. So i think the first one has got universal appeal.

Logo 4 has also come up as good.

I think in order of preference it is logos 1,4,2,5,3.

But they are all quite usable.

Yes number 1 is the best by far. Have you checked that it is not similar so some other brand? I'm just wondering if maybe the reason we instinctively like it the best is because it could be similar to something already out there.

Can you link to the designer?

You saw it cost 2.5 times more but I guess this shows you get what you pay for. I have considered using websites like 99designs.com in the past, but they are quite hit-or-miss.

Hi yeah 99designs.com is very hit or (mostly from what ive seen) miss. I didn't wont to taske the risk and waste my time on those kind of websites.

the designer is http://www.jpink.co.uk/

I think he has done it quite similar to other sports brands because actually they all have similarities and i wanted an identity that would be different but would sit well with the others.

So the fact that we all like it is good. It will be easier to accept the brand when marketed, because of the subconscious familiarity but not blatant rip off (well this is the idea anyway).

but i will put this to the designer tomorrow to see what he says.

You chose well. Looks great.

Why not ask about incorporating the 'X' device into the text? This will minimise the real estate your logo occupies and, conversely, allows you to display it much larger.

Hi thanks for the feedback.

We discussed this in length if we should do a logo that incorporates the mark in the actual text but we decided on doing both text with a separate mark.
This way they can be used together or separately in different places.
This allows the text to be clear and allows for a more creative symbol that can be used on its own.

if i was to use this symbol in the text i think the logo would lose its impact a little. i would have to make it more like an X than the athletic x as it is at the moment.

we looked at a pretty much all the logos of the 20 most popular and successful sports brands in the world and 80 percent of them incorporate text with a separate symbol only a few have a symbol incorporated in the text and they were not in the top 5 companies.

So as not to shun a winning formula we decided that a good text logo with a separate mark would be the best way to go.

Wish we could charge the above prices.

Michael, for what it is worth I think you have made the right decision. It shows that you get what you pay for. You now have a strong brand mark to base all future marketing around. Well worth the money you have paid.

arkybarky, could you post the Xerox logo (which looks nothing like the OP logo designs) any bigger if you tried.:)

Hi thanks GavCooper. yes i agree that it was well worth the money. the mark is definitely unique and has meaning. cant wait to see what it looks like on clothes.

The logo has been refined since i posted these concepts (mostly the text with a slight change to the mark) and really is powerful now. i will post it up next week when i get all the final files from the designer.
