www.itkitchen.co.uk

We have just uploaded a new website. We're aware the content is quite thin on the ground and perhaps clients would like to see more information there.

Is there any additional info you would like to see on our site as a perspective customer?

Thanks for any feedback. Be as critical as you like!

I shall avoid talking about the content and just say one little bit about the site in general.

The site is OK, no silly bits hanging off it or anything :) One pet hate I have about sites, in particular IT and web design firms, is these silly pictures of random people in the page header. It just SCREEMS template to me which IMO is an indication of a lack of professionalism.

Also I feel the site needs a bit more of a visual identity, if the hexagonal image to the side of your name is your logo then use that as a bit of a theme for everything below the header.

You guessed right the 2nd time. We're a team of IT chefs!

The whole point of our name was to play on the word 'kitchen' which is associated with the provision of food. The difference is that we are providing an IT based/Management solution. The same care a chef takes to create that excellent dish and deliver it to the customer on time to satisfy them remains.

I'm really looking for feedback on the content of the site - is there any information you think that is missing?

Thanks for feedback so far.

For me, whats missing is the sales process from greeting to close. I need a reason why I should even read any further that the top third of your homepage but at the moment I don't have one. My eyes naturally went to the blank space at the top of your page then I searched through looking for something that explained exactly what you do but got hit with non-specific waffle.

You have 7 seconds to grab a visitor to your site and I really don't see anything that would grab anyone. The layout is fine but most of the frontpage waffle should either be cut out completely or moved off the first page.

I would much rather see a statement that sums up the main benefits to me and give me a reason to think 'yes finally I've found what I need' in an attention grabbing headline like.. "Keep your customers for longer using our unique <Insert very specific description in 3 to 5 words>"

This way, you hook people onto your site by helping them to understand that you've probably got what they need. Then you need to gently take their hand and walk them step by step down each paragraph , being really specific, put a little about your product and alot about what will happen to their business if they use it.

Then you've missed closing the sale at the bottom of each page - if you don't ask for people to fill in a form, email you etc at the foot of the page they'll not really know what to do. and when people don't know what to do they usually wander around the site and back to Google. You need to close the sale at the end of each products description + benefits.

I'd also split the products onto different pages and beef up the content for each one - then have a specific form to fill in for each product.

Hope this helps a little,

Rob
