As a photographer I used to work for for 2 designers in a design group. One was a normal male while the other was a female dwarf. I did photography for both and got along with both as friends. Then the firm hit a quiet patch and had to make one of the designers redundant. They chose the male. As he explained it to me, she was the better designer.

Same question substituting 'large' for 'someone who posts stupid questions without qualifying them'

Bill are you a free member advertising in your signature.. I'm reporting this.

For the record, there is nothing wrong with the signature, it is within the rules. :)

Can we keep it polite though gents?

Cheers

P.S. I would have given a longer explanation but I am a little short on time :D

On a serious note, I am not sure if this is such a daft question. There are dwarves and joking apart, although there are not many of them, what if one did come to us for a job, I certainly have never pondered this before.

For us as a company, I would have to say that if an administration job where they work from their own homes perhaps there would be something in it. Our business is mainly security and dog handling.

They could perhaps help with certain aspects of dog training and would be useful because they are child size and could wear the protective suits and could follow instruction but have the brain of an adult.

They could do certain aspects of security if locks were lowered but this is very limited and they would have to be able to drive.

I think there are positions that would be available for them, their difficulty would be in reaching things but there is no reason at all for them not to be able to do much of this office work.

If I needed a PA that I took everywhere, then yes, definitely but I do not want one.

I think it is as interesting a question as any.

I do - and to be honest, it's very difficult to find them - it's quite common now to have to bring extra people in at Christmas from abroad - we had a great guy from Romania - George, who was actually a shoemaker. At that time, they weren't in the EU and employing him was a nightmare because he could not get a UK bank account. Much easier now!

Depends how many dwarfs??

If you get two, sleepy and happy for example, if sleepy is feeling happy, happy might get really p*ssed about it and you as an employer could be in trouble. But on the other hand, if happy is feeling sleepy and sleepy doesn't mind, that's on your time and you gotta sort it!!

I seriously think this thread deserves more consideration. If a relative of ours was a dwarf or we knew one, thoughts may be different.

I have to say there may also be the "novelty factor" that could bring its own things. I recall I went to a museum, Blists Hill Victorian Town and I saw about 20 dwarves on a day out. I was so ashamed of myself and embarrassed, I thought they were so cute and I just wanted to pick one up and cuddle one. They looked happy and just wanted to have a day out like everyone else. I wanted to pick one up and sit him on the counter and watch his little legs kick about!

However difficult the issue may be, they have their place in the world and are no more or less entitled than anyone else. They were born to be.
