Would like some help please

Just started up my own business I don't know much about marketing can anyone help?

Rob, start off by picking a better affiliate programme...to promote.

That website is breaking a lot of rules of copy - in an area which is flooded with products - so even if you find a way to promote it, the conversion will not be good. AFM need to hire a decent copywriter.

on any wealth creation scheme credibility and proof is what sells - and you have to work hard just to get people to download something free-

In this case they make it even harded by demanding a TELEPHONE number as well as an address. which is a big no no on a first contact. It is a case of small stages...

If you want to get into this sort of business go to one of the free conferences..to get some ideas..eg at the end of june.

eg www.cash-on-demand-workshop.com

Love him or hate him, andrew reynolds has made a fortune at this sort of thing - for himself and many others and his copywriter is a lot better than AFMs!

Great somebody with passion, you go for it and hope it works for you. The PR problem with a business such as this is quantity. By the law of averages if your business advertising reaches 10,000 people, you will get a result! The problem is 10,000 people need to be reached. Get yourself out there, if your website holds the key to richness then after 2 or 3 people becoming customers they will tell their friends and so on and so on. Get out there, stopping people in the street is not an answer neither are the business cards left in phone boxes or cash machines. Try an narrow the market. Re launch the marketing strategy to assume the prefix that this isnt a scheme and that people can stand to make a carreer out of your "ideas/systems". Try holding a stand at a jobs fair or job centre, and GOOD LUCK. KEV

Having read the website and the comments, you probably don't want to look at marketing, rather public relations to bring business in.

If this scheme really does work, then it's nice copy for newspapers and would make it somewhat less dodgy sounding.

Because that's your current problem, and with marketing that isn't going to change. The entire site sets off so many alarm bells that I'm worried about tinnitus:

- the copy reads American and too evangelical - in fact if it was emailed out, most spam guards would send it directly to your junk folder;
- we have to give you all our details to get an information pack (which in this day and age could be provided on site or with a downloadable pdf);
- there are no quotes from satisfied customers (unless we email - see above).

I'm sure the company is fine and upstanding, but one read and it makes you think of Watchdog and that's not good.
Why do you need so many contact details - are we going to get cold-calls or are they being sold on or used for something else?
Why isn't information on the site?

But as I said, if it does work, then you need PR and people won't think this way!!

Oh yes indeed - the magic dark arts of public relations...

I remember humouring one of these 'get rich quick' schemes when I got a card on my car..

and as above I used a dummy email to test it and I emailled the person asking what was involved and I never got a straight answer... it the end they called me and asked me if I could watch an hour long DVD which 'would explain everything'

I kept asking for an overview, a rough idea, a hint... they kept saying, I can come round and it'll explain everything...

Personally I reckon they sell you an ellectronic PDF of how to start a 'get rich quick' scheme and say 'Sell this PDF' and we'll give you a site to start you off.

Get a few cards printed, stick them on cars, doors, get a fe people to visit the website and bang, they have made themselves £50 of you and tell you to do the same.

Steer clear if you ask me...

Ive put an ad on a free ads site

here it is

Is your money doing as much as it could for you?
Are you getting the best from your INVESTMENTS, SAVINGS and PENISON?
Why not take a look at the AFM FREE GUIDE and see if you can get your money to work harder for you (my web link is at the bottom of the ad)

What doyou think of it?
is it any good?
Does it show well for my sort of biz?

You start with a weak headline. And remember that's 80%
of your ad.

Your problem is you haven't put yourself in your
prospect's shoes.

Straight away you start talking about yourself.

Who is your prospect?

What do they want?

Show some empathy with your prospect.

What are you trying to do with this page?
Is it supposed to be a landing page whereby
you capture your visitor's emails with an opt-in?

If it is, it's failing. It's not intriguing enough.
You need some fascinating bullets to arouse
people's attention.

What is your present opt-in rate?

Overall your copy is too weak.

Have fun

Hi Rob,
I can see that you have been given a bit of a hard time on here. But then again when you try to sell anything people do give you a hard time, that's the nature of business.

In my view, in order to market a small business you need to do 2 things:
The first is that you should be able, hand on heart, that your product or service has genuine benefit. If you have doubt in your mind that doubt will always trip you up. I am a hypnotherapist and I actually turn down business when I come across a case that I feel I can't help. So, youve got to be sure that your talking to people that you could potentially help in a real way.

The second thing is that you have to have the stamina to pick up the phone or knock on doors and say "hello, my name is rob, and I can help you do xyz". You have to do this over and over again, getting rejected, getting insulted. The reason you CAN do this, is because that you know, deep down in your belly, that there is someone out their who needs your help.

The life of a small business person is the life of a sales person, at least part of the time. There is no getting around this. Advertising, networking, the internet are all great, but if you do not "cold call" you stand at a very much lower chance of success.

Hope this helps

Steve

NOOOO Rob,

What's the point in going out on the street, getting cold in the winter and hot in the summer, if all your going to do is hand someone a piece of paper?

Why not do this? Get your self a t-shirt printed with "GET RICH QUICK?" on the front in big gold letters. Stop people and say "Would you like to become a millionaire in your sleep?". Yes some people will tell you to go forth and multiply, but others will say "Go on then, prove it". You have there my friend a real, live, prospect, someone you can sell too. If you had just handed that person a piece of paper (even a well copy written piece of paper in glorious full colour) they would just stick it in the bin.
