Working From Home: Can you trust yourself/others?

As with anything it really depends on the individual.

Some people get on better when working from home as it avoids all the 'water cooler gossiping' and no travelling is always great.

Others find it too distracting (especially when you start doing house chores instead of work!) and need to 'get away'

Best is to try both and see how it works for you. :)

Best of luck,

Daniel

the irony indeed...my 14 month old has come down with conjunctivitis, nursery wont take her until she has been on drops for 3 days....so here i am working from home today. I actually started work 2 hrs early today and will end up working till who knows what time just to keep ahead of my usual office day

Working from home can be hard, but a rewarding experience. It really is up to the kind of work you do and the motivators that you have. Of course, this isn't everyone's cup of tea. All I could say is that you, and your team, should have ground rules, monitoring systems, and communication devices in place in case you really have to work away from the office.

Not only do I work full time in an office environment (doing a job I don't love!) but I also work part time as a freelance copywriter from home (evenings and weekends!) and I love it. OK, so it is hard work but also I cannot get enough of it. As and when I can, I will be doing it full time. I am very motivated and determined to do it and my 6 years of studying with the OU while I completed my degree while at the same time working FT set me in great stead so watch this space! ;)

I rent an office in a business complex just to give myself somewhere which is strictly for work purposes. I find that being able to wake up, go to a place of work and then leave at the end of the day really helps with productivity.

Without that, it's all to easy to find yourself distracted at home where you end up working on client projects at 1 in the morning and generally not being very organised.
