Wordpress holding page??

Hi

Is it possible to have a holding page in wordpress, so that anybody landing on your site just sees that page, whilst your designing the rest of the site.

Ie, a page with a message on saying the rest of the site is currently in development but with a contact number and email on.

Would you just have one page (the one that you want viewers to see) public and turn the rest to private??

if it doesn't need to be private, but you just want a landing page on the homepage just upload an index.html page and set it as the primary (if not already)

Install maintenance mode plugin, it shows a maintenance screen which you can design yourself.

It will appear to all visitors unless you are logged in as admin then you will see the site how it is, you can active and disable when ever you like.
