Wordpress Blog

Hi all,

As you can see, I have a website, but with no real meaning. I have been taking some very helpful and strong advice, and I have now decided to start from scratch at the beginning and develop the site as I get more and more traffic and users.

I need help with a rough estimate price of a wordpress blog site to be created on my already existing domain name. I will update the blog myself, I just need it created professionally..

Can anyone help at all..?? I understand they are quite simple for an experienced designer, so I guess it wouldn't take that long, and the costs would be relatively low...

Thanks

Your current site is WordPress, it's just it isn't making use of the blogging functionality.

If I were you I wouldn't bother starting from scratch. You have a good looking site, my advice is to keep your current website and just have your WordPress theme modified to include the blogging functionality.

From your homepage:

  1. keep your header and the right hand booking form
  2. replace the left "why use travel high" section with 5 or 10 recent blog post/articles (synopsis+thumbnail)
  3. redesign your footer to be about 30% taller and implement all your blog navigation in there.
This way the costs for the current improvements will be minimal since most of the design work is done and WordPress is installed and working.

PM me if you want to discuss this further.

Thanks for the input.. (shocked to see Big Pete is banned..) I thought I would comment on this thread again, as my current designer for the new look website has done a disappearing act, and has not got back in contact with me since last week, AND he said it would have been completed not last week, the week before.. So I am now on the hunt again for a new designer, within reasonable financial limits of between £80-£150, for a blog to be created..

I am willing to stretch the budget.. but not by alot..

Just to answer what Zeal was saying.. I have not had contact with the designer since a week today, he has not bothered to reply to anything I have said.. Then what I said was, the project was supposed to be completed not last week, the week before.. 8th October to be precise..

I have spoken to a lot of people who have said, these Wordpress blogs can take around 24 hours to create, sometimes maybe 2-3 days.. WHY have I had to wait 3 weeks, AND still do not have any blog, or NOW a reply to say what is going on.. I started a thread a while back about a problem I had with a designer, and they made me out to be a liar, and a lot of people on this forum turned against me.. I am having the same issue again, with the same guy.. Can I really be wrong twice????

If you had problems before, why go back and use him again? Surely if you have a bad experience you walk away and find someone reliable?

Someone can whack up a wordpress blog in under 2 hours, by using a pre-built theme, but when you're playing with custom themes, you're looking at a few days.

I thought things might have changed, because I keep in contact with him, and he is good at his work..

I will be using my current travel high website theme, but on a separate domain name, and obviously in the form of a blog..

He may be good at his job but ignoring his clients is going to annoy them

Did you want it to look like the inner pages or homepage?

I understand what your saying, it is a great idea, IF my website at the moment had any meaning to it, I mean let's be honest, the website at the moment, is pointless.. and it's not just me who thinks that..

It would also be great, if the web designer would actually get back to me.. it's been 9 days and counting since he last emailed me, and he has been online since then.. I've sent 5 or 6 emails, I should have the blog by now (according to his emails from a couple of weeks ago)....

So at the moment, I am currently searching for a new designer/developer.. Faevilangel so far coming out on top ;)

Well I thought, I'm not going to be using Travel High, and I love that logo, so I thought I would just change the text and font style..

I'm not sure if your picking a point about the logo or the blog, or whether you are actually paying a compliment.. Either way, doesn't bother me ;)
