On an ecommerce website that we run I set up a blog a few months ago but have not kept it up to date. Yesterday to help with some on site seo I put up a post relating to a section on our site and linked to it. A few minutes after I did this I used one of those online SERP checkers just to remind myself were that section was ranking. I noticed that not only was the section ranking (top 20 and were I expected it to be) but the new blog post was also ranking in the top 400 alerting me to the fact that it had already been indexed.
It turns out that the blog post was indexed almost immediately after being published. I dont even think it was 5 minutes after I published that I noticed it was indexed. Just to make sure it wasnt a one off, I published another post today and checked about 10 minutes later and it was also indexed.
I know that sites with authority and regular content updates such as like UKBF will be indexed almost immediately but was not expecting this on our blog (the post today is only the third one).
Am I missing the obvious? At best I thought it would be indexed after 2 or 3 days.
