I have received a Cad drawing by email which I cannot open. When I download the Cad file, it appears in my Downloads folder stripped of its title and .dwg extension - it appears as just "untitled". It comes with a Winmail.dat file.

I have been researching the problem and it appears to be a problem with Windows Outlook and Rich Text from the sender. I do not have Windows Outlook btw. I do not want to query it with the sender as they are usually very slow to respond. Is there something I can do at my end to get the file opened?

http://www.winmaildat.com/ is a good start, i used it randomly. i dont know if i would trust it with secure private info but if your ok with potentially the owners of the site having the file its good.
Its down to rich text / html / plain text formatting on emails.... most commonly when OSX emails to Windows users
Thanks for the post. I had actually tried what you have suggested, but when I upload it to the site, there is an error message saying an unexpected error happened.

I take it that it could be caused by the file being originally generated on a Mac?
