Windows scam industry

Telephoning people from "Windows" advising them that their servers have noted their PC is infected by viruses and being used for illegal purposes must be one of the biggest growth industries in the world.
I rarely got a call but now get at least one every week from very nice people wanting to help me.
Today he was phoning from "London" and last week from "Reading".
These appear to have taken over from the emails asking for my help in repatriating £30 million from Nigeria.
Unfortunately people do fall for these calls.
There was a recent case in London where a gang of them managed to extract £3 million using S419 advance fee fraud.
Unfortunately they got £300K from a lady in America who gave them all of her and her husband's pension savings. When he found out he shot her and then himself
They got 18 months

Just tell them that you are using an IP address tracer and that you can see on your computer screen who they are. That is of course total BS, but it will frighten the caller.

Tell them that you are using an Internet phone and running a software called 'Wireshark' and can see that they are using the Meghbella Broadband service and that their IP number is 223.29.201.210. That is just a random Calcutta IP no. but they won't know that.

Most of these calls come from the Ariba Call Centre and they specialise in the Windows/Microsoft scam, pension scams, bogus surveys, the Talk-Talk and other telephone scams, PPI scams, bank call-back scams and just about anything else you could think of. Each location has hundreds of people working for them.

We get them all the time. Only thing is, there is hardly ever anyone at home to answer the phone. The Windows one, we get about once a week.
I also get a very nice man calling for me, (I don't live at home), saying how my bank card details have been stolen. It's the phishing for a pin number scam.
I really want to catch the blighters. I have a false card number and pin number written down, I've got my story straight.
I want them to come and take my card.

I want to teach them a lesson, for having the audacity to try and scam me.

I'm not to sure if I would blindfold them, take their shoes off, and let them wander around the 16 thousand acres of forestry for a couple of days, with their hands tied behind their backs, or just call the police on them.

One way or another, they'll regret crossing a Hill Billy.

I just can't get Mother, who occasionally answers to them, to give them my mobile number.......

A friend of mine actually enjoys these calls. When they say Microsoft, he says "Is that Windows" and with that they say "yes". "ooh I am glad you called I have dreadful condensation, when can you send your man around, I'm home all day Wednesday..." He doesn't let them get a word in. They usually hang up on him.

His other favourite is the car crash one. "He says is that the one where I died?"

I haven't had the calls very often, but when I have they are quite fun. Are you logged in to you computer?Let me turn it on, wait a few minutes ... various other things - then when they get to 'press windows key' its 'where is that?' more faffing around, eventually I don't think I can find a windows key, where would that be on a mac? At that point they hang up?

What always amazes me are those automated calls with a pre-recorded message, I know they can just a kick off a machine to do it all but is anyone ever going to buy? even if they call 100,000 people I can't see anyone responding.

Yes TPS won't protect you as they are offshore and sadly yes it continues as many poor victims get taken in by it.

Once they controlled my computer unexpectedly with a voice message asking me to call the phone number provided. I called the number. A woman answered. I screamed at here and said: "Your House is on fire, your house is on fire!!!". She replied:"do you mean your house is on fire?" I replied: "No your house is on fire, the virus you sent to my computer become a fire and burning your house now". "f*****f"; she replied and put the phone down.

I again I called the phone number. This time a man answered. in reply I screamed: "Run man with your life. The virus you send to my computer become a bomb. It is under your chair. it will blow your a*****s." Again I go f*****f.

I would be careful with this approach. Once you start responding to these people, you get flagged as being "gullible", and they will start selling your details on, and targeting you with other scams. It's just like any other form of advertising, once you start to respond, you enter the sales funnel and get tagged as a potential "customer"

The best cause of action is to ignore them

    HA HA HA HA HA!:D:D:D
By the time I've finished giving them an education, "Gullible" will the furthest term from their thoughts.
Blind terror, overwhelming fear, deep regret, and wanting their Mommy would be closer.
I've seen what happens to wise guys, once they get out of the warm glow of the street lights.

Don't get the windows one, but get the one where they are calling to talk about the accident I had.

When I ask when and where I get nothing usually then click... Few try to blag it but eventually give up in the end.

PPI drive me nuts as they most common.

I drive them nuts. When they call me I tell them I had borrowed so much money I must be entitled for a ppi of at least £10000.00. I keep them online on purpose for a long time. They think they got some thing fat. So they pass me from the seller to the manager. I agree with the manager to pay them at least £300.00 fee in advance. After that they pass me to the accountant to charge me. I tell the accountant s/he must give me details of his/her credit/debit card with the four pin number. After that I deposit the £300.00+ into their credit/debit account. This annoys them a lot. Some times really they become angry and accusing me wasting their time. In reply I tell them: "2You are right. I am glad you know I was wasting your time". Now hardly I get a call.

I love these guys when they call, make everything as difficult as possible until they get pissed off. Then I mention I'm an experienced windows user and developer and I know that my PC has no issues whatsoever and sometimes we have a right old slanging match with name calling and etc. I love it.

They have stopped calling me now though :( bastards!
