Windows key plus 'e' key no longer work?

Recently the above key combination stopped working so now I cannot launch windows explorer launch from the keyboard, very annoying and perhaps a tricky one to sort out as I cant find any solution

what Windows version are you using? Do you have filter keys or any such thing enabled?

Got Vista and the keyboard is new and both keys work fine and windows key plus 'r' and the other keyboard combinations work fine

I just get the 'Computer' window open, not a good old explorer window when I do it in vista..

Yes I have loads of software installed (most development software packages plus loads more), is there any software that you know could corrupt the registry to cause this ?

its still working, you might as well get a new keyboard... or maybe some of your software forbids the system to operate it...

well, it is possible a software application has mapped the window and e key combination to something else or de-registered it - I know it sounds like I am making it up.

Have you tried scanning for viruses/adware?

I have a faint suggestion maybe it is restricted by user account or you are using a USB keyboard?

Ahhh never knew this existed - easy way to open the Computer window in Vista.

yes have scanned for all viruses and spyware and removed anything I dont need and I have a usb wireless keyboard but it worked a while ago

This is s stupid thing but probably spend hours on this now ! as i 'try' to use it 10 times a day

You could create a new shortcut on the desktop (just right click on 'Computer') so that you have a shortcut that links to My computer. Then right click on this shortcut and assign a shortcut key. You can't have the windows key + e but you can have another shortcut.
