Windows key plus 'e' key no longer work?

well, it is possible a software application has mapped the window and e key combination to something else or de-registered it - I know it sounds like I am making it up.

Have you tried scanning for viruses/adware?

I have a faint suggestion maybe it is restricted by user account or you are using a USB keyboard?

yes have scanned for all viruses and spyware and removed anything I dont need and I have a usb wireless keyboard but it worked a while ago

This is s stupid thing but probably spend hours on this now ! as i 'try' to use it 10 times a day

You could create a new shortcut on the desktop (just right click on 'Computer') so that you have a shortcut that links to My computer. Then right click on this shortcut and assign a shortcut key. You can't have the windows key + e but you can have another shortcut.
