I thought win7 was bad enough but it's main problem for me was it's slow file transfer rate. But win 8 take it to a new level, I wonder if anyone has solutions to these two problem that makes my use like pulling teeth;

1. In the file browser when I open a folder it often take ages to build the veiw of thumbnails. Takes longer the type of file. When I say long may 60 seconds or more for 100 images. I've got some folders with 1000s.

2. Even then after the thumbnails are built win8 seems to cache them for ever. I've got used to rotating images with a left click but in reality it does nothing. Sure it shows the rotated but when I then move the file or upload it to a website it not been rotated. Often files that have been edited don't even show making me think I've saved them to another place and i go off searching for them.

Are the any reg setting or anything that need adjusting ?

I must second DazRave - I run Win7 and 8 (and 8.1) and have not found any issues in this area.

Would you be willing to post machine specs? Also, could you check the amount of disk space you have free - this is only usually a problem if it's less than around 15% of the total space.

    Re: point 2, if you're rotating them with the preview tool, it's not supposed to do anything. It doesn't alter the image, it simply alters the preview. If you want to actually rotate the image, use a graphics editor program.

    Like the others, I have not seen any speed issues with Windows building thumbnails.

    i work from home so I have adopted my previous gaming pc for business use. It has SSD hard drive too - it's bloody fast to move around. You can customise your explorer shortcuts so all your main documents folders can be pinned to the sidebar. I find it works great - however I have never experienced mac os so I don't know if I'm missing out or what.

    What I would say about windows is that it's easy to get disorganised. You can save a file and it might save to downloads, my documents, desktop it pretty hard to find and desktop does get cluttered in Windows so you have to do some housekeeping.
