Windows 8.1

Has anyone updated their Windows yet to the newest 8.1 version? Or is it still pending? Today I read it's being rolled out - and that current W8 users will have the ability to freely upgrade via an update.

Who's looking forward to this?

We're finally able to tell people it's ok to buy a laptop with Windows 8 on it now (shameless plug to my blog post here) ;)

Windows 8 was always a great OS, it was just that Microsoft were a little too arrogant and they forgot to pay attention to their userbase...once they provided the cosmetic tweaks included in 8.1 (and minor they may be, but they really make the whole experience much better), it's now looking rosey.

It now makes win8 a desirable OS rather than something I've avoided, mainly because of the desktop only option they have now. I couldn't stand the way they enforced the tile system onto desktop users in the hope they'd then buy the surface and a windows phone. There's a damn reason desktop screens have been so popular for 25 years (even before windows). Microsoft seem to make the most baffling of choices sometimes.

Couldn't agree more.

Except that there are problems with some people using the 8.1 update - there's even been a mention on here... http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=311577

Personally I'm still going to advise customers to stick with Win7 if possible or wait a while until Microsoft get it sorted.

You'd think with the backlash they have had over Win 8, they'd get this one right.

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't updated to the latest version just yet. Win7 will always be my favourite OS.
