Windows 7 update probs- any words of wisdom

One of our laptops runs Windows 7 and few days ago |) started to do a microsoft update..

Well since then the CPU usage has been 100% all the time.! Everything is painfully slow with fan whirring away to add to the misery.

Anybody got any tips for me..(please, other wise its getting binned!)

Hmm, oddly enough nothing is showing up at more than 05

I;m not convinced the update has actually been installed (!)

Under processes tab in task manager have you click 'show process from all users' ? That will show more ....

We may have a culprit

80-9% of CPU is being taken up by avp.exe*32 which relates to Kaspersky AV apparently.

So, next questions whats causing this and whats the fix..

Unfortunately I do not have first hand experience of this problem, however, other forums and support pages are indicating that a 'repair' (or reinstall) of kaspersky should sort the problem.

Have you checked the date of definitions of your kespersky AV? On some versions you can use the 'roll back' button to a previous update to see if it works. Otherwise yes a reinstall would probably be prudent.

I agree. Reinstall Kaspersky and see how you get on.

Just an update and to say thanks for the advice.

After a bit of a battle I managed to get Kaspersky uninstalled and re-installed.

The result.....all sorted

There is always a risk that an update could causs these type of problems, has rolling back the registry to a date prior to the update not been an option?
