Will Amazon return my money?

Hello,

I ordered a paper book in the Amazon shop approximately at May 26th with shipping from US to Europe. Then I had to cancel the whole order but money have already charged from my credit card. The Amazon's support said that the sum wasn't charged but was only blocked by the bank which issued the card and the money will be returned not later than after 30 days from the order date.
I wonder did anybody face with the same issue? Does the Amazon return money?

Most companies only take your money when they dispatch the goods and the card issuer understands this so that when you make a payment the card company / bank marks this money as spent for 7 days to give the seller a guarantee it will be available to them to claim upon dispatch

After 7 days the freeze is released and the seller has to take pot luck that there will be enough money in the account to make the payment

On 26th of June it will be one month since my bank froze the money at the card.

Guess that's a good reason not to shop with the Amazon crowd go to independents for a better service and stop the big ones taking over the world

Finally I ordered a used variant of the book in AbeBooks. The price with the shipping was about 5 british pounds.

This is normal policy with Amazon. And, indeed, some payment providers - Paypal will sometimes delay refunds. There is little the seller can do about it.

As stated above, you will get better service if you go to the seller's own website.

Forgive me, but this post is on UKBF because.....? Here's a silly thought OP, why not contact Amazon Customer Services, that's why they are there, to service their customer base. If you don't trust them then don't shop with them in the first place. Bottom line is you ordered, assuming you cancelled pre-shipping then you will have the funds released as soon as your card/payment service releases it (this is not Amazon (btw). If the order has already shipped (check your Amazon account under "Your Orders") then you will need to return the order upon receipt. If the order was Amazon fulfilled as opposed to merchant fulfilled then they will refund you immediately however if you do not return the goods within 30 days (check this) they will take the money again. If the order was merchant fulfilled you will need to return the goods before you are issued with a refund.

This post is here because I want to ask if the other people faced with the same situation when they canceled the order and the shop Customer Service said the money will be refund without fail and the money finally returned at the card. I need to know the ratio of positive and negative finals.
