Wholesale, distributer, dropship for retail

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering, companys that offer wholesale products and dropshipping services get there products in bulk from the manufacturers, how do they go about doing that? Do they contact each differant manufacturer of certain products for example if they wanted to sell wholesale lots of sony tellys, do they get there products directly from sony?

Just a random question if anyone has any info!

Thanks

In the example of Sony TVs the only people who buy direct from the manufacturer are the big players in the industry, think Dixons/Currys/PCWorld and the like. for others there's distributers. As for drop-shippers anywhere that's the cheapest and buying retail for some isn't unknown as the profit margins are tiny even for large high priced items. Drop shipping electrical items can't be done if you're trying to compete on price, the numbers don't work. On a £500 retail TV in Currys, etc. even they'd be lucky to see a 10% margin, the margin comes from the stupid priced extras, leads, stands, 5 year extended guarantees, etc.

Hi there, thanks for replying on my thread. I know you said only big companys buy direct from companys such as sony, i am assuming the distributers buy directly from comapnys such as sony as well then? Do the distributers have to meet certain criteria to be able to purchase from them?

Thanks

hi,

i know a fair few distributors (wholesale) for home entertainment and i do know that currys and pc world also buy some of them.

even the sony center franchises buy of these distributors in the UK, but i do know you can only make a couple points on each tele if you can make anything at all.

probably the main distributor in the UK for home entertainment is Midwich i know they have a lot of stock and bu pallets worth from them. i know a site digitalbug.co.uk use there feed to resell on the web.

from my oppinion,as the big Company, which already establised there Sales net, there will be difficult for somebobdy to approch them and do the drop ship Business.Becasue that will affact the market.you know if you import directly from them.there will be a lot difference for the Prices from the big distributor. And will meddle the already firm Market.

But for generally Supplier, whose market have not already established, and much people have no idea of that brand,so it will no trouble if you import to drop ship.

Generally Speaking, all depends the Suppliers' sales methord.but as a big brand.it will be better to have step by step business methord. If everyone could drop ship, that will messed up the brand.

Drop shipping is a simple business to commence however is only imaginable if one has a shipping corporation to supply them with the products.

There is no path that one can commence their business without first choosing a drop shipper who will do the shipping for them.

I use "dropshippersuk" for dropshipping in uk, its a great experience by them. you will get reliable and legitimate solution for products as well as for business. :D
