Who uses Stretch Film / Pallet Wrap? Any recommended suppliers?

Hi
We're looking to cut costs by buying some regular consumable items in bulk. One of these we use regularly is stretch wrap.

We use a 17 micron blown stretch wrap on non-extended cores 500mm wide and each roll 300m long. Our annual use is about 70 rolls.

We're looking to buy at least a pallet load or two of this so:

A: Can anyone recommend a supplier who would be keen for this business

and

B: Does anyone else use this who would be up for some "collaborative purchasing" at the right price? (Bigger volume order should give us bigger discount)

We use similar volumes but of the extended core stuff. We just find the cheapest on eBay and buy that. We do get a call from one of the suppliers we end up buying from offering to sell us a pallet load of it. We always turn it down for two reasons:

1. Each time we order from this supplier they send us the wrong stuff, and we have to phone up and get it collected.

2. We don't use enough of it to warrant a larger purchase - it doesn't make sense from a cash flow / ROI point of view.

I've used this a number of times, not in the qtys you have been using though. But I always found eBay to be the cheapest tbh. Get in contact with a seller and ask to clear them out of it and they may well do a good deal.

Hey nice to see another Lincolnshire business here :)

Thanks for the input on this. I agree there are some good prices from the leading ebay sellers of this product but it's hard to imagine we're getting the best price if we're making them pay the best part of 15% in ebay / paypal charges etc.

Although I like the idea of contacting them offline and negotiating a bulk price. If anyone wants to colloaborate on a bulk purchase let me know - in multiples of 6 rolls.

What other business consumables lend themselves to the same approach to reduce costs I wonder..........

A distributor will never be able to beat a manufacturers price, purchasers are very often made to pay stupid over the top prices when they could be paying over 50% less.

I have to question who you are directing this at and whether you know the customer is charged "stupid over the top" prices?
