Hi,

Over 10 years me and my dad has been collecting whiskey, over that time we have about 1000+ of collectable whisky which are now in good price, we are thinking about opening a e-commercial shop to start selling our collection but as well get a connection with Scotland and their market in the mean time to buy and sell bottles, my questions is what you guy think about it and how it is with law in UK about selling alcohol online as well a postage of the bottles as most of them are above 40% abv.

If you only have around 1000, won't they get sold pretty quickly? As they depend on the age, you won't be able to get new stock easily? So why do you need to set up your own ecommerce shop? Why don't you just sell them all on Amazon or eBay or something like that? Or even Shopify?

Well because if that will help to set up a business then why not?, I don't think they will be sold so quickly as most of them bottles are 500, 1000, 2000 pounds+, I know where to look for whiskey to buy directly from the producer, people are buying them because it is good investment, and new bottles are showing up everyday.

Could you supplement your store with cheaper but very high quality whiskey, this might provide a more steady income whilst you wait for someone to buy your collectable bottles. (i don't know anything about whiskey or selling alcohol, just a thought).
    Good Luck

Well the bottles I am looking to sell gone be for investment for people, I don't want to sell something like Jack Daniel's but they are going for some good money is well, but over the years they not going up in prices like the other premium single malt whiskey, so I will be looking at selling only them

There is a market for everything, but when expensive items come to the market provenance is the key; and this means normally buying from well established sellers who can as far as possible prove the history of it to avoid 10 year old whiskey being bottled in a old bottle as 100 year whisky and as whiskey does not age when bottled hard to prove without lad testing

So Chris are you saying you would be happy spending £500-1000 on a bottle of whisky from a small start-up business with presumably no real history to the fact it's the real thing, or would you buy from the many large established whisky traders

It would most likely not be a investment without strong provenance so ends up very hard to sell at a profit

I normally see a bright side for many start-ups but see big problems for this one in its present form

Am I reading this correctly that you have potentially £1m worth of whisky?
