Which vending machine?

Hi all, I recently did a search about vending towers and stumbled across this forum. It seems a few vending machine operators reside here so I thought I'd make a post asking for advice.

I'm looking into installing a vending machine tower in a nightclub. I have a choice of two and was wondering if perhaps I could get any advice...

The choice is either a Pringles or Nut/Snack tower. I'm routing towards the Pringles Tower as Pringles are recognised worldwide and quite addictive. However, the Nut/Snack tower is cheaper and provides more choice.

The Pringles tower is £249 and the Nut/Snack tower is £89.

Which do you think I should go for and why?

The nut tower is a simple machine but one that works if you have the right location. Based on the lower cost it will be easier to get a return on that one as I think the margins are similar for both products.

Hi, many thanks for the replies so far.

I've tried to contact Vending Revolution by phone and they promised to get back to me but I've not heard from them since. I was hoping a representative of theirs would provide some information via these forums as I've seen they have a profile here.

The Pringles Tower is more expensive but I think I'll sell more due to brand recognition.

I'm open to more advice, thanks in advance.

I would love to put a hot dog stand there but the licensing in the city only allows outside vendors till 11pm and the residents must not oppose.

I would try both but I don't want to invest in two machines and two sets of stock.

In my opinion, Pringles only sell for the first month as a novelty value,
then people get bored with them and your machine sits there earning nothing until your club manager asks you to remove it.

Why buy one, why not find a local operator and get him to pay you to put one on your site, no outlay for you and he has a greater reason to make it pay

I am not sure I entirely agree with what you are saying. I get contacted by many Pringles Operators who are very disgruntled that the sales from their Pringles machines are not consistent and quite often the sales tail off after several months.

We have trialled many Pringles machines in our sites and we have found the same, admitedly not in all sites but in most. We also have Pringles machines turn up in our sites only to disappear after a couple of months or so.

It is very dependent upon the type of site you are placing your machine into. Some will go crazy for the sweet type vendors and some will go crazy for the Pringles type vendor. I believe the Pringles machine is excellent for some sites but not for others, and vice versa with the sweet type vendors. Having a mix I believe is the best way and that way you can keep your customer happy with what they want to eat.

you would say that wouldnt you my darling,lol.

i do agree a mix is the right way forward but as i said i have quiet a few of both out there and the pringles are defo number by a mile if im honest, i find that your eggs,cola bottles go very well but i only use a couple of your lines, salysol have some very good sellers also.

I need a few more towers do you have any second hand for sale or know of anyone selling any?

not interested in the sitefinding tho as i find it very easy to locate my own-good old cold calling for me-.

what would you say your best sellers are? maybe i could give them ago asell, i already have the nuts from D or planters0cant remember which ones do them now, so any suggestion would be great.

Sorry can't help you with any second hand ones. Ebay seems to be the best place and I don't know of anyone who wants to sell any.

Don't get me wrong, I do rate the Pringles vendors, I have just had different results than you. That's the fun of vending.

Well done on your ability to site find. Not many people like acquiring sites and they find it very difficult.

You have picked a couple of our best selling lines, ie the Chocolate Eggs and Fizzy Colas. Other top sellers are the Fizzy Jelly Mix, anything with chocolate, Cashews, Big-D Planters Dry Roasted and Big-D Planters Salted do very well indeed. Don't you just love the packaging for the branded lines - it has caught the attention of many major brands out there and we are proud to be in partnership with Trigon Snacks . It all depends on the types of sites you have. Maybe you should get in touch with one of our distributors who can mix the boxes of stock for you to try. PM me if you would like his details.

I might be to late posting;

I agree with Boris; Pringles is king.
I have swich sold all my salysol machines to pringles.
Out selling 3 to 1 is an understatement.

Dont get me wrong I loved the salysol range, tubz , snack a can.
But Margin is king !!!

I have pretty much sold off all my machines on ebay.
I've been honest with them all ... told them falling margins is why i sold.

When Pringles get to dear I'll move to something else.
But vending rev is right vending is great.

Hi All

My partner was a victim of Beck Vending ! Cut a long story short we were able to get a few machines sited by another company however they no longer provide the service.

If there is any vending companies out there who are willing to site machines we would happy to take this service up (for the right price).

i was reading a usa vending forum vendingchat.com and people on there asking whats the best way to get machines sited on your own and alot of these guys seem to go down the charity route by telling the owner that they pay a percentage of takings to a certain charity which they are officially affiliated to which is displayed on the machine and dont pay the owner anything one guy had 153 machine sited this way dont know if anyone has tried this approach here but it seems a good way to get sites from what they are saying .

Personally, I'd go for the Pringles unit - to be honest I've never seen anyone eating anything in a night club so I'm not sure either would work, but if you had to choose one the Pringles brand association - and the fact eating nuts is more fiddly - would sway the decision for me.

Rather than a direct response to your email (after all it was 3 years ago) Id like to put my oar in and say that from a marketing point of view how do you see your nightclub. If Pringles offers you the image that you want associated with your site then go with Pringles, if on the other hand you wanted to appeal to peoples feeling of quality go for something like kettle crisps or some eco brands that taste great and give a quality feel to your club. I have only had dealings with a vending merchant called refreshU they let you tap into a local vending supplier that can advise you on the best choice. Hope this is of use, its often to easy to just think supplies rather than step back and look at overal image.
