Which payment gateway do you use?

Hello all,

How do receive payments from online markets you sell at?

I have recently written a blog post here describe the situation here on UKBF blog. It links to my website's dedicated page for online merchants. I can't link to it right now because I don't have enough posts so you can probably view it via my profile. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

I am thankful for your reply. I rephrased the article to make it more readable. You're absolutely right with your observation, I was a tad careless when first wrote it.

PaymentBrain is great by the way. Cheers!

Has to be PayPal as you can pay if you have an account but they can also take payment from those that do not have an account.

The fees for even the business account are fair and are cheaper than many other payment services.

"Most sellers still use either Paypal or Amazon's currency exchange service to transfer foreign payments into local currency."

What's your source for this statement?

I don't take any issue with the information you provide in the post itself, but personally, I do find posts and "newsletters" that are transparent attempts to sell the author's services off-putting.

Barclays Merchant Services just wrote to say I will be paying a percentage rather than a flat rate for debit cards. Suddenly PayPal is cheaper. I will keep my card machine for telephone sales and when Barclays ask why sales have plummeted I will tell them to stop fining me for my non-compliant web site as they are no longer on it.

Shouldn't be much more than 0.6% though.

Acquiring banks will be switching many merchants to % for Debit cards (if not already) due the changes in the interchange rates provided by Visa and MasterCard. The % will depend largely on card turnover and average transaction value. We have seen several acquiring banks giving the merchant the option to cancel without penalty if they are not happy with the new rates offered but it is always worth picking up the phone to them to see if you can re-negotiate (especially as an existing merchant trading more than 12 months).

Hello Japancool and I apologise for the delayed response. I got that information from the companies I am working with in this sector. To my best understanding the vast majority of Amazon sellers use the embedded currency exchange system to receive payments. It's also very logical that most sellers won't go way and beyond to set up something else, if they already have an automated system within Amazon.

If you have other contradicting information I would be very glad to hear it, and amend my post accordingly. I know it's promotional but I think there's value in the services I'm reviewing.
