Which parcel delivery service

C

cartoonstudio

I've always used the same one for years. Never really had any success with others. Cost is not really an issue, I just needed a reliable and local company.

We used Panic Parcels based in London. Website panicparcels.co.uk

Hope that helps,

Think this is still in the right topic so sorry for not starting a new thread.

In terms of parcels to residential addresses who is best for bulky goods.

Product dimensions and weights are pretty regular sizes needed to ship and there are always 2-3 boxes per consignment.

Box 1 196*86*15cm 32Kgs Box 2 196*44*15cm 15Kgs Box 3 196*15*15cm 10Kgs

Total weight approx 57kgs.

Let me know if anyone can recommend someone obviously at an affordable price.

These are freight parcel shipments rather than standard, so it's going to depend on the volume you're shipping. If you're sending a couple a week, then you're not really going to get "cheap".

If you're after a network solution (all UK, 24hr delivery etc) and you have volume, then I would suggest either that you go to a company like TNT, Parcelline, HDN, DPD.

If you're not into huge volumes then you may be better off with an independent courier solution (man & van type thing) as a part load. However, you'll need to have more flexibility about delivery timescales because it's unlikley that they'd be able to deliver to potentially "everywhere" in the UK on a next day delivery.

Or, find a 3pl logistics company that can resell you freight parcel services.

Thanks Boxby, I say "cheap" but I mean reasonable. Dpd and HDN don't like the bulky freight along with Parcelforce, Dpd and Fed Ex.

Citylink and TNT are ok when the volumes massive although I would love Tuffnells to do it but there cost is high and they don't like residential. Best was Nightfreight but again they are dear at £8.10 10Kgs and 31p back kilo. And there failed delivery charge is £10.00p.

I would like to pay around £5 per parcel as they will be getting £15.00 per stop then and I don't have to give away a large slice of tghe profit.

£5.00 per parcel is unrealistic for this weight of parcels. 25kg is the health and safety recommended maximum for a one person lift. How much profit do you think the carrier makes? Nowhere near the % that you make and with the most important part your chain you want to be stingy. Just do some research find the best delivery service for your customers and pay for the service.

Ditto all of that.

Think also about the TOTAL cost of delivery, not just the amount you pay to send the parcel. For example, if you send on 3-5 day service does it make your customers substantially less likely to re-order? What are the costs of dealing with non collections/non deliveries from networks that perhaps have more parcels on their vans than can reasonably get delivered in one day. What is the cost on your business when your customers have to drive 35 miles to the depot to collect the parcel because there is only one delivery attempt in the £5 price. What about the £2/kg overweight delivery? What about the £10 surcharge for certain items, £7 surcharge for congestion zones etc.

To get a rock bottom price of £5 per parcel you need to be sending HUGE volumes. If not, then the only way that the carriers can offer it is by shaving service, or surcharging AKA ryanair. Eitherway, those costs tend to come back and bite you on the ass.

I do like these new couriers, who are predominantly web based and offer simple courier services simply by going online and entering information into a few fields.

One I have used before is Fast Lane International. I found the arrangement online really straight forward. They collect it and it's sorted. Great for me anyway.

They also offer an International courier service which seem handy.

I recommend.

Their website is wedelivertheworld

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Should read

I do like coming to forums and mentioning products which I am linked to, I find forums straight forward for spamming purposes in one simple place.

One forum I visited allowed me to declare my undying love for such a product, joined up, posted spammy message, I found it great as no need to build a reputation up as a trusted poster.

I recommend actually searching google for my company, i've seen some ''not so great' reviews but hey dont let stop me posting a spammy message

That was just an honest and helpful review I thought. I think you should post something useful now.

Well in a forum to recommend a service to someone, I was recommending and trying to be helpful because their site isn't 'company name' .com as usual.

That is the standard way of recommending.

I will google 'other ways to recommend a service' for future reference then

It was your 1st post recommending a company on a thread that hasnt been touched in 9 days which would have been on page 4-5 of the e-commerce forum

We see it all the time people signing up then spamming a business they have or are connected with.

If thats not the case then welcome to the Forum and we hope to see some posts soon.

They are all as bad as each other...I have used TNT who lost a 40' lorry that my products where on and I was in Ireland awaiting them to do a demonstration for a £100,000 contract, TNT having had the goods for 3 working days, told me they had "lost the lorry" the morning of the presentation! Luckily, I won the contract anyway.

UPS and DHL damage most things I sell and the Royal Mail rarly delivery the products I ship - especially around Christmas.

If the contract is worth £100,000 why not get a quote from a National Courier Assosciation sameday courier service such as http://www.sameday24-7.co.uk/ where your goods are sent with a dedicated vehicle & driver - you know it makes sense.

Sameday can be highly cost effective for delicate / valuable / irregular items !!

We use citylink, which in my experience are the best of the worse.

Don't get me started about Shitty Link. I agree about them being the worst. In the ten years I've been living at my current address, CityLink is the only parcel courier to have damaged EVERY single parcel they've delivered to my house. Believe me thats no exaggeration, maybe I'm just unlucky. They even had the damn cheek to deliver a parcel (long thin metre long box) which was snapped in half. GRRRRRRR!

I like Interlink the best :D

I've been selling on eBay for several years now and seen many delivery companies come and go on eBay. The most reliable and definately very user friendly are collectmyparcel.com I have an account with them and get 5% on all my shipments overseas. :)

City Link I can safely say you're not the only one getting a crap service and receiving damage to your parcels! As a whole City Link is highly unorganized and they don't have respect for parcels as you'd wish them to. Especially if they're running to right deadlines your parcels will either get lost or not arrive at all. I remember cleaning up the warehouse and number of parcels being ripped apart in the corner of the warehouse. They're useless and I'm ashamed to have them as my previous employers, I could've offered an insight to where they were going wrong but they'd of not listened.

This is my first post on this site and reading this thread, it's been really helpful, so thank you for all your recommendations.

We have a very low parcel threshold - perhaps 10-20 parcels per week. Many of the big companies dont want to touch us.

We have to date used two LOCAL courier firms - Bluebird (excellent service) and Scarlet (excellent service). They are very friendly, excellent delivery service. I recommend local services rather than national services as they all link into a larger parcel service and the customer service is second to none - we've had only a few issues with missed deliveries - usually when the customer is out and each company is happy to speak to the customer direct to rearrange delivery.

IMHO, you get what you pay for and with the increase in VAT, they are all much of a muchness at the moment - especially with soaring fuel charges.

I hope this has been of some help.
