Both start off with a "reasonable" price based upon the package you choose, but as soon as the contract ends they both wack you for it with stupidly priced "illegal" charges...

I say "illegal" because, 1. they don't contact you to remind you that you're coming to the end of the contract therefore sting you for at least one month's overly priced charge and two... I've spoken with the financial ombudsman - both about SKY and VirginMedia and they've stated that both SKY and VirginMedia force people into contracts by firstly not contacting their customer to remind them that the contract is due to finish, and that both state the following

"We have thousands of customers, we can't be expected to contact each one when their contract is running out"...

Well, yes they can - it is called providing a "customer service"... Both SKY & VirginMedia boast that they both have an excellent customer service, well surely by ringing your customer to thank them for their custom and to ensure that you want to stay with them is all part of providing a customer service?

Nope, all either want is your hard earned cash... they lie to you, they cheat you out of your money and instead of paying you back when legally you have a right to a refund, they instead refund your account if they've taken funds that they shouldn't have...
