Which is better in your opinion? SMF or phpBB3

I like SMF. I suppose it depends on which one your used to really.

Never used it as a standalone forum though..

I use phpbb3 as it integrates well with WordPress.

MyBB is even better with WP (has a wp plugin as well)

phpbb3 is fully integrated, design, cross posting (blog > forum) and user database wise. I take it that's what the myBB wp-plugin does too?

You need to customise Mybb and wordpress separately but you can enable cross-posting.

I prefer Mybb for ease of customisation, but seems I should be using phpbb if it takes wordpress' template.

All depends on what your using it for really, I would use SMF on some sites, others phpbb and other again I would use VBulletin.

One glove never fits all, if you take the time to understand the pro's and con's of each you will make a better decision.
