Which Franking Machine - and buy or lease?

We are going from sending 50 mail items a month to several thousand, so I've been looking at MailMark prices and Business Mail Advanced etc.

The industry seems to be riddled with people wanting to charge lots to lease a machine and obscene amounts for the tiny pots of ink that need replacing quite often.

Any suggestions from those more experienced, on what the best deal is and where to buy from? I don't mind buying outright or leasing with maintenance etc, Just want to try and avoid some - if not all - of the sharks

Personally I would avoid Franking Machines completely. Contact the Royal Mail and find out about a business account. Ask them about postage cost compared with Franking. I have stopped sending any real volumes so I no longer know the prices but it used to be identical. The main difference being that using a Royal Mail account there are no consumable costs. You print on 6x4 thermal labels which the Royal Mail supply for free. The only capital cost is a Zebra label printer

Thanks for responding. I've already got the setup you mention in another business, which sends lower volumes of mail - but printing the labels won't work for thousands of items.

Also, to get Business Mail Advanced (taking second class postage from 66p to 35p + VAT) it seems that you have to work with a franking machine unfortunately...
