Where to purchase stock for new Discount Store?

Hello,

I plan to start a Discount Home Entertainment Retail company. Where can I source stock in the UK and abroad (which ever is cheapest) for a good price? I was advised to use Wholesalers and Distributors because they sell in bulk with more than one branded product - any recommendations?

A discount store (or a discount anything) lives, eats and breaths knowing where to get stuff cheaply. It is the very core of what they do. Anybody can open a widget store and go to a widget wholesaler, show that they are legit and then order a pallet full of widgets at regular wholesale prices, but a discounter knows something the regular retailers do not - where to get those end of line bulk deals and who, where and how to import.

He or she will also have an encyclopaedic knowledge of all the runners and riders, rules and regulations.

You do realise you will be responsible for any problems with the equipment you sell, If say a TV goes wrong or breaks down the customer comes back to you for exchange or repair not the distributor or manufacturer and your responsibility can last far longer than any warranty made by the maker.

Also fully understand the Distant selling regulations if your selling without the customer being on your premises

I think you're doing this the wrong way round. Surely if you plan to open a 'Discount Home Entertainment Retail' company, or any sort of retail outfit, you must already have in mind where you can source stock at the right price.

How can you do any planning to open a store when you have no idea what your costs will be?

If someone on here has found a good supplier at great prices, why would they share that info with you so you can compete with them?

Plus, your first two posts seem contradictory...

Where can I source stock in the UK and abroad (which ever is cheapest)

I only plan to source suppliers in the UK
