Where to Host?

S

ServersandSpares

Hi all,

Am looking for a bit of help with our hosting needs. We currently host with our web developer, and have no issues whatsoever, he is brilliant. Unfortunatley we are out-growing him, and will soon need to move. We aren't looking to pay through the nose, but then again we aren't looking for the cheapest quote, we are looking for what works for us and individual contact is vital, we don't want to deal with a faceless person in a non-descript company (however old fashoined that might be)

This is what we would need:

In terms of bandwidth, unrestricted and unlimited both in terms of throughput and also bandwidth. Don't want to be limited as the site grows and as we haven't done any marketing whatsoever yet,

Daily incremental backups and a full weekly backup with info stored off site for security.

Dedicated account? Instant support is essential, no 5 day wait for a response!

If we look at a shared hosting environment we must have the ability to connect to our database remotely via an established port.

In terms of hardware, it will need to be a windows box with support for ASP and MSSQL databases (with no limit in size). The more RAM the better and ideally a Hard Drive config for additional redundancy.

We are a HP/Dell/IBM Server Dealer so we can provide the hardware required if needed if that helps.

Looking for anyone willing to have a chat about options.

Thanks

Julie

(ps please don't anyone recommend webfusion, won't be considered)

We can handle all that easy enough. Just put a load of Dell 2950's live today, mental boxes. 8-32Gb memory enough for you?

If you could PM / Email or Phone with some more details that would be great. (e.g. required processing power, memory, disk space, windows version 2k3 or 2k8, sql version, managed or un-managed)

Unlimited bandwidth isn't possible you will need to be realistic on your requirements.

I had a server with Reg1 for about 3 years, excellent company. They are very knowledgeable and were always very fast to help when I had an issue.

We ca certainly help you there with one of our UK dedicated servers on a managed or unmanaged basis.

All the servers come with a minimum 4,000GB bandwidth per month on a dedicated 100MBit or you can go for a 10MBit unmetered connection for an extra £10+vat p/m. You can step this all the way up to a 1,000MBit unmetered connection if you really want ;)

The servers themselves start from £49 + vat p/m and can be be configured exactly how you wish. We also offer up to 1TB of off site backup storage space.

You can either go for an unmanaged server or fully managed at an additional cost but to work up an accurae quote, could you PM me the server spec you are after, what you need intially installing and whether you would need the server to be managed for after setup.

Please do give me a call if you would like to talk through your options :)

*We currently host 1.3 million domains
    *we offer 24/7/365 support
*we are leaders in the business and if you ask around, a lot of people are reselling from us.
*We eat up all the competition if there is any and we are green too
*Be sure to check the awards we have won so far, i guess that's credibility if agree

Do not waste your time on companies who treat customer services like going to the pub to get some pints & allow their kids to be taking calls while they are back from being drunk.

Hit on the banner below my sig and head straight to our site, be sure to contact either our online help chat or out telephone lines. since you will be calling from the uk, use the local line and not the U.S toll free which will not be free for you here.

It is very funny but goofy to see some of your comments relating to my comments.

Lets do some reality check as you swarm to stampede yourselves just to get one client. Good Try

    1-Dwebs
    your site: 2008hosting.net
    Dhosting.co.uk

    2- JamieBeeston
    Your site: Register1.net

Here is an independent web hosting review site, let's see where your site is & if it made the top hosting sites in the UK.
    http://uk.hosting-review.com/

Unfortunately both of your sites did not make the list on the report carried out by hosting-review.com for Feb. 2009. What it means is that you are still struggling and you are not known, direct your energy to seeing that your site competes better and not looking for who to criticize, very pathetic.

Here are top 8 uk hosting sites according to the reviews from customers.

    1-HostPapa.co.uk
    2-1&1 UK
    3-UK2 Hosting
    4-WebFusion
    5-UKHost4u
    6-EasySpace
    7-Easily.co.uk
    8-One.c

Be sure to click on the reviews carried out both in Canada & U.S and you will find out the reviews for my company's Hostgator.

We at Hostgator are not bragging about our continued customer care infusion, rather we simply do the work while you wallow in your ego that leads you no where.

Here is a list of our company awards, click below
    http://www.hostgator.com/reviews.shtml

Only someone who is very ignorant will criticize the standing of Hostgator
in the the web hosting niche.

As for TB1234 who made a rather laughable comment, quote ''Don't host the US (ie) use hostgator as performance is poorer due to the distance and it will affect your rankings''

What do you really know about web hosting to make this rookie comment, i guess you need to stop drinking that cool aid and help yourself with good facts and not appear like a drunk already.

Looks like the spammer still didnt answer the question about who on earth he is - owner, employee, or reseller of hostgator...

As for hosting review sites, since when has their been any really, truly independant unbiased ones?

The one you gave could be owned by anyone, you could own it for all we know - its been registered using domains by proxy for the contact details...

    Agree 100%.

I've not found any real review sites that aren't motivated by advertising or commission hence we don't list ourselves.

    No need to be offensive.

Firstly, those host review sites are full of affiliate links and are based on nothing. They are probably ordered by level of commission.

Secondly, (I can hardly be bothered to reply) distance has an impact on latency which affects performance. Some of the global sites I have worked on use Content Delivery Networks to overcome this e.g. Akamai, Limelight, Netli

Thirdly, it is a known fact that it is better to host your site in the target country. For example, my Irish sites are hosted in Ireland. UK ones in the UK...

Judging by our use of English I reckon you are an Indian link builder paid a few cents per link you get, apologies if I am wrong.

    Peace.

My gosh I'm late to the party and what did I miss, an affiliate of (a reseller of) Hostgator slagging off the operation of proven, friendly and obviously competent....what is the world coming to :D All such people should be confined to the relevant sub-forums on WHT :/

And on a side note those 2950s are fantastic boxes, we happily use them for nearly all our hosting now...

I've been using Dataflame to great success. Their low cost & have 24/7 online support which as a sole trader is invaluable largely because it is not unknown to be in need of technical support at 3am!

I'm sure their may be better, but the messing about I've had with fasthosts and other bloody hosting companies when it comes to getting to speak to someone means I'll stick with Dataflame until something better is shown to me.

Thanks for the replies but you obviously didn't read my request, which says don't recommend Webfusion as will not be considered.
