Where to find web developers?

I should be a little more precise... 'Where to find web developers for one-off projects.'

Hi everyone, as the title suggests I need a web developer for a couple of one-off projects. I already have some in-house developers working on some larger client based things and I don't want to take them off the work they're doing. Therefore I thought it best to outsource a couple of projects that are not client based.

I've tried People Per Hour and have had good experiences with proof readers but not so with developers. It really does seem you get what you pay for! A lot have messy code or are not savvy with W3C and Schema practices, which at the price they're offering is expected I suppose.

I'm not looking to hire as the projects in question have been estimated at 4-5 days - some Wordpress templates and some database search functionality.

Does anyone have any sources for finding developers? I'm willing to pay more for quality.

Being a WordPress Specialist myself, I understand your pain in finding a right company/freelancer. I bet it's not easy to find WordPress Developers who can take up the project and finish the same A-Z. UpWork is one the places where you will be able to find quality people. It's all about trying and testing them out. I know it's a bit of pain and some work on your part but you'll find some great developers there.

Except I'm not sure @KeyBlue are interested. They have a list of requirements that it's not possible to comply with. For example, jquery loaded in the footer - doing this with wordpress will almost always results in a loss of functionality. Same with their need to have the CSS load in the footer, wordpress really doesn't like this.

Don't make the mistake I did and get terrible web developers - Introspective in Sheffield - hands down one of the worst companies I have dealt with. Be careful when outsourcing developers, it can be risky. Go on recommendation! I used a company called Evoluted (again Sheffield based) they were immense! But ask around your local area!
