Hi all,

May I jump onto the topic if you dont mind and ask a short question since you are talking about where to buy IT stuff. We are in the process to launch a site that provide all it equipment for businesses, but we are thinking to make it only B2B. so you have to be a company to buy from it which normally gives you a much way better rate, and in the future an installation service that can be bundled with whatever IT equipment you'd like to buy. DO you think that having to ask users to register for a business account membership(which is free) is a pain, or would it be something you'd still buy from ?

The membership concept is drived from encouraging customer to buy from us all the time where we will try to support them as a member, rather than just a buyer passing by. ofcourse with good discounts and a store that is comprehensive for all the IT requirement.

It would be a pain, I would simply buy from elsewhere. And how will you know what is a business?

Thanks for that KM-Tiger ,, we would ask them to register a company name and company registration number. Which can feature giving them credit terms aswell depending on the credit history and history with us.

May I ask then, as a business what would be the things that perhaps you have been looking to get/have from an ecommerce supplier for IT equipment, but can't find in regular ecommerce sites?... We would like to tailor it for businesses to suite there needs as being B2B been always our target segment.

If your prices are good and you can deliver quickly then businesses will use you, however there are lots of companies out there which specialise in B2B IT sales so it's a very competitive market.

When I worked for a large firm ordering £100k+ a month on IT Kit we would have 3 preferred B2B only suppliers and when we needed something would order those 3 for a price and delivery times, so it can work if you can get on preferred supplier lists.

Cheers @Paul_Rosser . We'll keep that in mind to get onto company's suppliers list. Seems like its mainly about delivery and pricing aswell. We are investigating an option now for same day delivery but its going to be expensive as its a premium expensive service and needs an extensive realtime integration. Perhaps will introduce it after the launch when we streamline things.

As a thank you to the members who have helped with their advice and experience, I'll send you privately a voucher code once we launch to buy whatever you want at trade price with no margins from the store during soft launch. Highly appreciated all your input.

When something goes wrong firms sometimes need IT kit in a matter of hours and so price doesn't really factor into it that much, it comes down to who can provide the kit quickly.

Actually bought my iMac and macbook from PC world business, they beat my usual mac reseller (who is extremely competitive) on price.

For windows hardware my chief issue is quality, so I'd be looking for brand as much as price. Dell would be high on my list as build quality is excellent. My current client has just abandoned HP and Lenove for reliability issues in favour of Dell.

Bought my last windows laptop in Costco. Costco after sales support is first rate.

And, no I wouldn't register for your business only site, there are enough PC suppliers out there already

It could be worth the saving going for refurbished PC's, especially if you don't want to move to Windows 8! There are plenty of choices if you do a quick search. I've used CRS-UK several times with no issues, but there are plenty of others.

It's amazing how much you can save and lets face it, for most things, do you really need a 'new' PC?

If you can get a mac. Cheaper in the overall life cycle and better to use

Ebuyer and scan for scan. Scan is very useful for pickup if your on the m6

Also as a sub note don't overlook the micro pcs. Loveno q series. Sub £200 and plenty powerful enough for office applications etc.

It all depends on what sort of computer we are talking about.

Office gubbins PCs come from Dabs (Acer or Asus laptops).

Specialist PCs for heavy number crunching - Scan, as they have departments that build to order.

Very specialist PCs with application specific cards - in-house build.

Ebuyer.com - Great service, fast delivery, brilliant support and a great user-base, so you'll always be able to read reviews from other members before making a purchase. Depending on how many units your planning on ordering, you can usually get a discount :)
