    Hello Daryl
i did look you up on youtube but you only have one video that but that one does not even have a value. Forgive the way i come across with my language. But If you could just at least post some weekly tutorials or videos that solve some problems for potential clients. You would open up a lot of opportunities just with youtube.

Thanks for getting back to me. It's unfortunate that you feel that way about me creating a brand/business. But as an ambitious professional, I'm looking to expand very quickly.

In terms of the pricing issue, it's something I thought long and hard about. I'm happy with my decision to leave this off my website, as I'd much rather have a nice friendly chat with the client and tailor a price and plan around their needs.

Going forward, it would be lovely to get some proper feedback in regards to my initial question ;)

I know this is an old post, but I thought my 2pence might help! I have my prices on my website clearly (same industry as OP) and this is something clients have praised and thanked me for. It also saves me time as I don't have to worry about clients that want something for £5 and they know the price to expect.

I often find that by the time I have briefed a copywriter for the type of work I do (financial journalism) I might have well write the article myself (I am by no means a writer), especially as it means the copywriter would have to spend a good amount of time doing research and checking facts. Having an article writer to call on would be a great help from time to time.

Anyway presumably you do more advertising copywriting, or advertorial work. If that's the case, then I think your best bet is local and non-local agencies. I used to work at an agency on accounts for Barclays, Aviva, RAC etc.. and we regularly hired freelance copywriters, creatives, and artworkers. We'd keep a list and contact them whenever we were busy, which was all the time.

I lived in a small town of about 120,000 and there must have been at least 10 marketing agencies, all them at one time or another would have used freelancers.

On the flip-side, I myself have been a freelanceer (HTML email development and campaigns), and used sites like upwork. The rates indeed low, but it was easy to get regular work.

    Hi all,

Having recently launched my new freelance company, Content Chef, I’m looking to find remote work without resorting to low-cost websites like Fiverr or People Per Hour. I’m based in Malvern and will be focusing on copywriting, content marketing and social media management.

Over the past four years, I've worked on a number of projects for corporate brands, agencies and SMEs, covering a wide range of sectors.

With this in mind, can you suggest any websites, agencies, recruiters or businesses looking for these type of services?

Any help would be much appreciated :)

    Thanks,

    Daryl

    Hi Daryl,

You could always sign up to a platform we have helped build called Leadlance, any leads posted on Leadlance are verified by two different factors, and there is quite a few different leads posted each day that may be of use to you.

The thing I find annoying with content/copy writers and such is a tendency to pretend they are a big firm (we/us/what we do/our clients, etc) when they are nothing of the sort.

Another thing is a reluctance to give any sort of hint towards pricing.

Both are common practices and both are a certain way of missing out on a lot of work because people like me just won't bother contacting you.

Sure, as a one man band developer, I'm maybe not your target market but I have spent thousands on content over the past four years. Get a dozen or so such clients and you won't need any freelancer gigs.

I've been in the same position in the past. Considered taking on a freelance content writer but been scared off by expensive looking websites. Instead ended up training existing staff to write copy.

Think it would also help to be clearer on what copy you're able to write about. When I ran an outdoor clothing company, I was approached all the time by copywriters who knew nothing about my business. I was always doubtful that someone who never stepped foot in the outdoors could write passionately about walking or running. Honesty is the way to go...
