Hi, I set up a Ltd Company to buy and rent real estate on 22 Oct 2015. It did not trade in the first year so I filed dormant annual accounts and recieved confirmation today from HMRC that I do not need to file a Company Tax Return for the first accounting period ending 31 Oct 2016.
However in today's letter they have also requested that I notify them within 3 months of the date when trading does start otherwise they may charge me penalties. But I actually funded the Company on 7th Nov 16 through a Director's Loan and paid various conveyancing fees over the next 4 months until I completed a property purchase on 17th March 17.
What date would the Company have deemed to have started to trade in the eyes of HMRC? If it is over 3 months ago will I be liable to pay any penalties?
Thanks
