BE are really good (bethere.co.uk).

The only time you really need to talk to your ISP is when you're getting set up, or there is a problem with your connection. I've had one problem with BE, and they sorted it out quickly, and clearly explained what was happening at each stage.

I've had problems with other ISP's before, and each time, their support was really lacking. Avoid BT though, I've had a nightmare with them.

I agree with this. BE have been really good for me!

I think our services are pretty good. 24 mbps and with a phone line £25 per month.
Mega.
Also we are absorbing the new 20% VAT charges in our prices. Pm me if you would like to know more.

Best wishes

Avril:).

I have just left Utility Warehouse for Virgin - best thing I've ever done!
UW was a nightmare with timing out, taking ages to upload and freezing.

What is your idea of slow? What speed are you getting?

What you need to do is contact your IPS (in this case SKY) and as them to do a line test. SKY use BT's lines and so will most of the other ISP's out there (O2, Orange, AOL etc...) and assuming there is no problem with your SKY broadband router or your line, you will get the same speed from them.

The only real alternative is to either go for cable (Virgin Media etc...) if you can get it in your area (I can't) or go for the very expensive and not very fast Satellite Connection.

I am with BT and get a measley 2.5-3Mbit/s and I build sites and blogs etc... with it just fine.

If you are downloading and notice you are having low speeds at certain times of the day it's worth noting that a lot of ISP's including BT throttle their D/L limit when you are using Bit Torrent and P2P.

Hope this helps a bit

have had a p;roblem with BT so just tried the BE website. It's down. Not a good sign.

Rob

It's not DOWN, they're just updating it! There are very few live updates you can do (while the site is active) so a lot of companies disable their site whilst they update it!

You say it's not a good sign but it IS a good sign! It's a good sign thatthey update theit site and it's a good sign that they do it in the middle of the night.
