Morning people,

As the title says "what would you sell"

Heres the scenario

A well known (local) and well established garden centre has a number of log cabins in and around the grounds, I was speaking with the owner yesterday and he is talking about renting these cabins out for retail purposes

When I say "log cabins" what I mean is "smart sheds" They look really well and seem ideal for what he is planning.

The garden centre itself has a coffee/snack shop, They sell the obvious with a few little extras thrown in, candles, pet foods/leads etc that sort of thing.

Anyway, This got me thinking, Im a construction manager for a pharmacutical cleanroom builder and am about to finish my current project. I have been offered the option of two more contracts, Both a long way from home, Not ideal with wife and children!

Anyway, As I say this got me thinking, What would sell well in one of these "sheds"??

I started with things like shabby chic furniture, Homeware, then pet supplies, coats, leads, foods etc

He has no restriction on what the sellers choose to sell and promises "exclusivity" on the centre, Surely this can only be a good thing. Prices start from around £10 per day, Also he will allow the decoration inside to your own choice

Is this a potential oppertunity or am I just getting ahead of myself and should stick with what I do best??
I really dont want to work away, I have a few £s saved and would love a little unit on there

What do you guys think would go down well and sell on this garden centre

Any ideas or advise is appreciated

Cheers

It seems simple, but have you asked the garden centre owner if theres anything his customers have pointed out that the centre doesn't do or would benefit from? If not, you could ask him to ask a few customers.

Also visit other garden centres, a few round this way have similar small retail units within the larger centre, I'm sure it would be the same in your area. You could see what looks busy, talk to the operators of those businesses etc.

Hmm. Curiously I thought your business was wooden toys. Which I thought might well be a good product for this site. I could just hear parents saying 'We are going to the garden centre to choose between 5 kinds of compost; you can look at the toys'.

You could possibly rent out little wooden wheelbarrows for the kids to take round the centre.

Then I read your post again!
