Just wondering what printers people use at work and home. Including Inkjets and Lasers.

Also where do you buy the inks/toner? Do you tend to source locally or do you have a website you place repeat orders for?

Just a little market research. Thanks in Advance :)

We also use the Brother HL-2035 for black and white volume printing - tend to do a quick google for the best prices when buying cartridges but found cartridge save to be reasonable.

Have a 3 in 1 that just eats ink for colour printing, scanning etc

I tend to stick with HP lasers. Still got a HPLJ3 that I bought in 1995. A mate gave me a HP1010 which is a great little work horse.

Also got a HP 6310 All-in-one. Previously used a HP2550DTN which was great though large and a bit noisy but did B&W duplex very well.

I buy toner off eBay.

We use HP Laserjets 1020's in the office - I find them to be really good reliable printers. That said we use them less and less now with so much being sent via email.

I tend to get toners from Ebay - the last ones were £9.99 incl P&P and they are super quality.

At home I dont print very much at all but we have an inkjet. I think its a Canon Pixma - cant remember the model but its a combined scanner/printer. The last cartridges I bought for that was from Tesco. I did try some cheap Ebay cartridges but they were a mess.

Mostly, people use inkjet printers for their regular use at home and office. If they work on images, then they prefer to go for laser printers because they are better than inkjet in image printing.

Sorry but i'd have to disagree with part of that, it totally depends on the images you are printing and for what purpose.

Colour laser printers have come a long way in recent times but inkjet printers produce good quality images and are ahead of lasers for photo printing.

Basically choosing a type of printer depends on what it will be used for and the amount of pages you expect to print, inkjets for lower use laser for higher use.

May be you are right and may be not from my point of view. There are some inkjet printers are available in now time which produce a good photo printing but no comparison with laser.Any way, thanks for your suggestion.

Canon MP600 for general stuff.
Epson Photo 1400 with CIS for some dye sub stuff im playing with
Canon W6400 for larger posters etc.

I generally get my ink locally as i allways run out when i need it most.

Also very confused at the laser vs inkjet i dont know of any sub £500 laser that will even come close to the quailty of a £200 inkjet for colour photo work. Infact if you want a laser for decent quality photo work then you would be pushing your budget into the £2000 mark and then you have to deal with canon ipf series and high end epsons with 12/8 sets of ink.
