What Mobile Phone

    I have just managed to mangle my Nokia E65 which is a shame because I really quite liked it. However I'm seeing an opportunity to get something new.

    I'm on Vodaphone, and I'm looking for a phone with full internet access so that I can access my webmail.

    Any reccomendations?

    E71 is a great alternative and much better looking than a blackberry IMO but if you want a decent camera and all the usual bits and pieces that a good phone has too then steer clear they are not the most attractive in this sense.

    If you want what you describe email and internet then agree the E71 is great, proper qwerty keyboard nice and slim and looks nice too.

    I changed from a N95 to this and have no regrets, although I don't use it that much for pictures etc

    I love this - I must really be getting old!

    When did a camera become part of the usual bits and pieces on a phone. I want a phone where I can phone people and, if they really must, people can phone me as well!

    If really really pushed I might text - about once a month - but that is about it.

    The most important thing for me in a phone is for the battery to last without needing charging every day. My current cheap and cheerful phone can stay on with 'normal' use for about 10 days. Love it! :)

    :DLOL I agree with your sentiments however the mass mobile phone market dictates these additional gadgets and gizmos are the norm nowadays.

    I think your battery life expectation is a little out thought my E71 which I have two email accounts connected lasts about 2 days maximum and if the battery falls below 2 bars it won't automatically sync.

    Apparently internet usage uses a lot of the power, apparently so does GPS on your phone but that's a whole new debate.

    I might have had a result here.

    I just rang vodafone and as it happens I've been due an upgrade for the last 3 days :D

    They are sending me an E71 to play with for free, will be with me tomorrow. Camera I'm not to fussed about, altho poor battery life might be a problem. I use the net a lot on the go. Really want to be able to access my webmail.

    I hear it has built in sat-nav? Is this activated or does one need to purchase anything extra?

    Also, does the small ended nokia charger work on this phone as it's what I have in my car.

    If your on contract with Vodafone then you need nothing extra to use the SatNav function, which by the way is pretty darn good,

    And yes its the small ended Nokia charger

    Perhaps have a look at the Nokia N97, it has many features I'm sure would come in useful for you. I tried to include a link but I don't have permission until after I've made over 15 posts, it's easy to find from the Nokia website though if you're interested.

    Can I ask a further question. My wife who is not such a MOG (miserable old git) as me would be lost without her mobile.

    What is the best 'fun' mobile around for personal use - i.e. emails are not important but a good quality camera is or is it the same answer as above?

    Another E71 fan here. Had mine about 2 weeks and absolutely love it:D:D

    Had a windows mobile device before and really didn't like it. Great features, but far too tricky to use. Also, didn't like having to use the stylus

    A proper querty keyboard is a real plus for me and I can type much quicker than with the stylus. Syncs with exchange just fine too with a little piece of free downloaded software from the Nokia site.

    Of course, it also has the same robust build qualities as the other Nokia phones too

    E71 here, love it.

    Downside is that the camera is pants.

    Everything else is just great though. Nokia's Beta Messenger is a fantastic client that can connect via imap to email accounts. Battery life better than the E65. Keyboard is an excellent design and has great functionaility. GPS works fine although the Nokia Maps goes a bit squiffy now and again. That or it doesn't like Hull. :p

    If you liked the E65 you'll love the E71
