There is no "best". Different packages will do different things, so it's very much down to which package best meets your needs. And your budget.

The other issue with asking for advice like this is that very few members will actually have tried more than one or two, so aren't really qualified to compare different products. If something works for them, they claim it's the best.

We've used Maximizer for about 14 years now, and it works very well for us. There are a couple of issues with our installation so I have looked at a few others, mostly cloud based unfortunately from your point of view, but can't find anything that works quite in the same way. I'm not sure if Maximizer works the way that we need, or if we've adapted the way that we work to Maximizer! :)

I can suggest that you take a look at it, but can't say it's best.

yes, you are right with what you say. There are so many solutions available, it is hard to choose in a way...

I own a small newspaper, so I ideally need a solution that can manage my advertisers, what space they book in the newspaper and so on..

Does anyone know of one, as I cannot find many decent solutions..

David is right as in there is no "best" out there. You have to decided which is the best to suit what you require a crm to do for your business.
Are there particular things you will need it to do?

We're a user of sage ACT Premium and it's perfect for us and does exactly what we need and more. It's made a huge difference to our business and we convert a load more leads since we implemented it.

What is the best CRM software (Customer relationship manager).

I ideally would like software and not any cloud based solution as I do not trust them.

There's actually a list of CRM software with a comparison of all the features. I hope this list www(dot)staff(dot)com/blog/comparison-of-crm-software/ would help you a bit.

You want to be using some kind of system that is at least partly catered to your business. The worst thing you can do is use a CRM that won't allow you to do what you want, as you'll spend double the amount of time workign around it. Try a windows based CRM or if you have an IT department look at building one that does exactly what you need.

You can choose one of the multiple SugarCRM solutions that have products for both sales force automation and marketing analysis.
TeamLab CRM focuses on sales automation and is well-integrated with a multifunctional toolset for PM and doc management.
