Hi everyone, i know the heading may not seem very clear but what im trying to figure out is, when a trade mark is registered does that only cover one company logo? We have 3 logos that we use one is the main company logo and the other two are separate project logos that are showing to be very successful, If i trademark my main company logo will it also Cover the other two or will i need to register three separate logos?
Also does anybody have a rough idea on the pricing.
Thankyou

Hopefully someone who has done this more recently will be able to respond to you. However just incase I will tell you the little I know from my experiance. I think you may have to register all three illustrations seperatly. It has been a LONG time since I did this but the cost was around £200 and it took about 4 months.

However, this fee is charged whether your trademark application is sucessful or not, I believe you don't get a second chance either if you want to amend your application, you have to repay the fee and start again. Therefore, you may want to speak to someone who is experianced with this and knows the ins and outs of why your application may fail. Mine was unsucessful as even though the logo was unique and it was an actual domain name registered to me and therefore unique, however apparently the brand was too generic for the business sector.

Additional class, I think, refers each additional business sector ie retail, food, IT etc.

I hope this helps

The class only really helps searching - so if, for example, you search for Diamond - you will find huge numbers of registered trademarks, so many you must use the class filters to display. Once you get there, you'll see all the permutations, and in many cases, there are exact name matches, but very different logos - so the firms who regularly morph their logos have multiple logos either still protected or sometimes expired - but each one is a separate case.

Hello. The UKIPO are very helpful but they will not give legal advice on specific applications. Generally speaking- each logo will require a separate application- unless they have very minor differences when you could consider a 'series mark'. Classes are super important. Your application is only as good as your classes- so if you get this wrong you will not have adequate protection. There are 45 classes. 1-34 cover products ie clothing in class 25; 35-45 are services such as web design in class 42.

It costs £170 for one class and £50 each class above one. You will have to pay the same fee for each application. Please get in touch if you'd like any guidance on this.
