What are the tax requirements of UK sellers selling to USA?

I have two questions which I've found extremely difficult to get a solid answer to despite researching around the Internet for a few days.

I currently sell on eBay.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk sometimes I get orders from the USA. If I get orders from the UK or EU then I'm charging VAT however if I make sales to the USA are there any taxes due in the USA? Sales Tax etc?

Similar but different question: What if I list my products on eBay.com or Amazon.com? Both sites have emailed suggesting expanding my listings to their USA sites. In these situations I would receive dollars via paypal which I can then convert to GDP in the case of eBay or with Amazon they exchange to GDP and release to a UK bank account although the listings are all in dollars.

At all times my stock would be kept entirely in the UK. Do I have any tax obligations to the USA?

Separate question while I'm here. When posting to USA you need typically need to put a customs declaration on the package. What do these mean exactly? Does the person posting need to be linking these parcels to the US gov somehow. Do they need to be paying? I'm sure it's different depending on item but how do you find out? What about simple low cost stuff like posters or dvds?

Thanks in advance for any light that can be shed.
