What are the costs/fees of shipping single package from UK to USA

Hi guys,

Hope you are all well.

I was hoping someone could help me out here.

I have a small package ( 5cm x 5cm x 5cm - 400grams) with a value of under £20.00 that I want to ship from the UK to the USA.

The best postage price I got was from Royal Mail which was £7.70 (5-7 day non tracked)

My question was

1. I have heard there are sometimes other associated costs when shipping from the UK to USA (clearance/customers/duty/vat) ect. Does Royal Mails quoted shipping cost include all of that?

2. When I put the criteria of my package through Dutycalculator.com it came up with their being no duty/clearance/taxes needed to be applied....would this be correct?

If someone has shipped from the UK to the US (or anywhere else out of Europe) and could give me some advice that would be very much appreciated...I could not find one single concise explanation of this online.

Look forward to your replies,

Thanks.

Sonny.

Untracked, your Royal Mail quote will probably be the best you will find. There are postage comparison sites online which will show you other alternatives but it all depends on what protection you are wanting in case of non delivery etc..

Royal Mail will not take care of any duty charges.

In regards to the duty, I believe, but may be wrong the threshold for duty in the US is around $25 so your item may just sneak under the threshold especially if it is a gift. You will also need a CN22 Customs Label to attach to your parcel. Each country is different so you would need to do your homework.

Hi,

Thanks for your help. I have read on one other site about the CN22 form, it's strange how it's not mentioned more frequently, as it seems to be an essential thing you need on the package.

Also, according to dutycalculator.com the duty free limit for the UK to USA shipping is $200.00...I hope that is accurate.
