What are company's expenses in UK/Ireland?

I was wondering, after starting own business (company) what are expenses? What percentage of profit does owner have to give to the state? What about taxes?
For example in my country Croatia it's around 50-60% annually I think

the answer is it depends probably best to have an appointment with an accountant/tax specialist in your country if you are based there or here if you are in the uk

As mentioned you really need professional advice from an accountant in the UK if you are going to start a business over here.

One of the first things to decide is are you going to be a sole trader or Ltd as both have different tax implications.
