What am I?

I am employed full time as a teaching assistant and want to start a business which I will be running in my own time from home. How do I register - the majority of my income will be from work and not from my business so surely I can't be a sole trader as this doesn't count as self-employed?

You will be a self employed sole trader - the relevant proportion of income doesn't matter. Think of it the other way round - if your main income was from the business but you had a part time job, you'd still be an employee in that job.
