What about YouTube?

Thanks for the response Jules.

I do already have a tripod - so that's one cost saving.

The camera will never been more than two or three feet from me and, in most instances, in a quiet, brightly lit room (see I DON'T KNOW MY NAME for example). The Panasonic that I'm looking at apparently has a "stereo mic/zoom mic".

The flip screen would be useful because I do move around a lot when filming and it would be good to see that I am still in frame.

If you have a look at the other videos on my Man The Headset channel you'll see the type of stuff I plan to do.

Of course, I am open to suggestions for other camcorders (no more than say £150), but I think I would need to stipulate the flip screen is a must as it's only me doing the filming, so I need to see myself while recording. Currently, I spend most of my time having to re-shoot because I've gone out of frame.

Business and Youtube do not match

I wouldn't necessarily agree, Kenny, I think it depends HOW it's done. I never plan to blatantly advertise BananaOffice in the videos - it will be mentioned in the credits, or similar. It certainly will never been in the viewers' face.

If done correctly ANYTHING can get you new business - I even got a new client by telling them how rubbish our service is.

Hey, I've only read the top few comments but I believe absolutely...

Any form of social network tool is GREAT for business if you use it in the right way... I'm just not 100% sure of the legal implications of using someone else call etc without them knowing about it.

All the best

Then you've not looked at my videos.

I don't play a recording of the real call - I re-enact them. So it's only me (and my voice) in the videos, I change names where necessary and I don't mention company names. Go have a look at I DON'T KNOW MY NAME for example.

@ashley

I looked at your videos, i'd still recommend if poss getting one with an audio in jack you'll get crisper sound and you may end up filming somewhere new as times goes on that isn't so controlled and the onboard won't be great (eg at an event)

I'd suggest getting a low cost light (£30 - £50) and also adjusting colour balance when you come to edit.

I'd say think about the budget for the kit overall rather just camera.

hi jeff

free

windows moviemaker pc
imovie mac

but if you think you'll really get into video then skip these free ones and go straight for
a reasonable cost, paid option like

Sony Vegas pc
Final Cut Express mac

@ashley

take your point about flip out screen, people without one use a shaving/make up mirror positioned with a rod on the tripod behind the cam to see themselves, or they just do a test first an check the footage
