Certainly, we'd be happy to help migrate your site to us.

We actually provide a free domain for life for any of these extensions: .com, .net, .uk, .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .eu, .de, .es, .us and .in

Normally the free domain is your primary domain. So you're welcome to transfer your .com to us (which we'll pay for), and we'll then keep that renewed for you free of charge.

You can then register the .co.uk with us as well, and add that as a Parked domain, with a 301 redirect to your .com domain. We're happy to show you how to do that or do it for you.

If you want to keep your .com with your existing registrar then that's fine as well, but I'd recommend the above.

Apologies for the delay with this Dan, a premises move got in the way!

We're ready to get the ball rolling with moving our site and domain over, and I'm just on your website placing the order - I've selected to transfer our existing domain to you and renew for a year, however it's quoting a charge of £8 rather than being free?

Also, just wanted to check whether I need to select the option for it to auto install the Wordpress script as part of the signup, if you are still ok to help with transferring the existing WP site over for me?

Hi Marc,

No problem at all.

Great, you won't be charged for the domain. I presume you selected to transfer the .com. It'll say £8 but on the next page it'll show the domain is free.

That's because we have to pay for the .com transfer, unlike .co.uk domain transfers which don't involve any change to the expiry date, and so don't cost anything to transfer.

You can select WordPress if you like, and enter your existing username and password for convenience.

We'll manually migrate your WordPress site for you, no problem. We actually use the Softaculous one click installer to install a clean copy first, that way you can make use of its backup and update features if you want. So if you select to auto install WordPress that's fine, as that's the first step we'll follow anyway.

Thanks for all your help in transferring my website over. Not only is the blog now loading quicker but it's also moving slowly back up the Google rankings which may be to do with the quicker page loading times

Great to have the opportunity to host such a long standing member.

Google certainly takes performance into consideration these days, and if the website is slow to respond or down when it's being crawled and checked by the likes of Google that certainly doesn't help. The reputation of the server also makes a difference. This is where the very large hosts piling lots of spammy websites onto a server can really harm proper businesses and other users.

So moving to a better host can make a real difference. Great to see it's having a tangible positive impact on your website.

I came across this thread at the right time as I was having some issues with my web host which were just not getting resolved despite pestering them about it. I moved over to Hi Hosting and echo what others have said. Dan is professional and responds to e-mails day and night. He handled the migration and transition has been smooth. The site is running smooth and a definite improvement from our previous host.

Through the whole process I have been able to focus on running my business rather than trying to sort out web host issues. I would definitely recommend Hi Hosting to anyone considering a new web host!
